I went to watch Mission Impossible 4 and was curious about the VIP Theaters so I went to check it out. After buying my tickets I walked through the "VIP" entrance and the first thing I see is the bar :fuckyea: The place looks like lounge really cool environment. I had the urge to order a drink and just like that i had my rum and coke in my hands sitting at the bar. Now the part where I was most blown away was the theater seats. I would say its like the Ultra AVX but 10 times better. Bigger seats with extended arm rest and fold out mini tables extra padding on seats and arm rests, in seat food and drink service. Overall experience was great I highly recommend.

I went to it last night, I used my scene points to get me and my gf tickets soo 2000 points for = 39 Dollars of tickets. Awesome seats, I thought it was sick you can order food and they will deliver it to your seats during previews. I was tempted to order some sweet and spicy chicken but I just finished eating at wings. I would go again, but it would have to be a good movie to actually pay the $19.50 a ticket

Your 100% right i wouldn't pay that much unless it was for a really good movie

I would pay that much for a 3hr epic or something but for a 2hr movie theres no real point on wasting that kinda cash

19.50 is for the experience not the movie.

Cineplex is talking to the Government at the moment in the hopes of getting the liquor laws changed so that you can have drinks while watching the movie in the theatre. Will be interesting to see if they are successful (I have my doubts). Not sure if it will result in a better experience overall, or instead a worse experience dealing with drunks during a movie.

$19.50 doesn't seem like that much of a premium from what they're charging these days, haven't been to the movies in a while though...

Is this on schoolhouse street by SFU? I always go to that theater. Will be badass watching movies in that theater, I was already pretty floored by the ULTRAavx.
Dr. Funk you can order a beer/drink, and take it into the movie or you have to consume it outside of the theater?
dr.funk

I saw Sherlock Holmes there a couple weeks back. I actually found it to be very reasonable in terms of prices, once you're in the VIP area. The food, the drinks, etc. are all priced very well.
The seating is great. Leather, comfy, etc. The very front row actually reclines, too! Actually wouldn't mind the front row for a change!
VIP what. Is this only in coquitlam?
dr.funk

Yeah only coquitlam

what do you mean by well priced? would it be cheaper/same/more than what is already sold outside (NY Fries, BK etc)??

You're allowed drinks in the theater, but you're not allowed to bring your drink from the bar INTO the theater or vice versa.
Correct me if i'm wrong but i'm 99% sure that's the case.

You can get restaurant style appetizers and dishes that taste good that are comparable to what you would pay at a restaurant. If not slightly better priced, even.

So only 1000 scene points per ticket for VIP? How many people allowed inside?

And is there a reserve seating system like the Ultra AVX?

yea its pretty cool 1000 points work for all tickets. 2500 points is two tickets and two medium drinks and a medium popcorn.

In what world is the theatre near SFU? It is on schoolhouse but like a 20 minute drive up to SFU.
Regardless, have heard good things about it so far.

I leave SFU 10 mins prior to showtime and make it on time. Then again there's no traffic when I usually go (even if there is I don't watch movies alone so I can make use of the HOV lane). Sorry if my subjective estimate somehow struck a cord with you, and offended you.
I hope the sand that has found its way into your vagina escapes trouble free. Allow me to restore your delicate mental balance by offering my sincerest of apologies. There, is everything better now? Great.

They are planning to bump the points for an extra 500 i believe. Which makes more sense and still worth it imo.
Not really racist!

I believe most if not all cineplex are gonna be renovating and part of their 5-10 year plan is to make all theatres ultra avx and have a bar at every cineplex..

19.50 isnt bad.... MI4 imax was 18.50
i imagine that price is going to skyrocket soon; they've had these things in the states in the past and it was like $40 a ticket

Yes, tell your date to bring a very big purse! My GF's daughter learned a very important lesson about this - she can buy 3x the amount of candy for the same money outside the theatre, and no-one suspects/searches little kids
I remember being a teen and sneaking booze into the theatre - hell I still do it for Canucks games! :D Order a fountain drink, head for a washroom stall, mix in booze!

This is worth it for me for one reason alone: 19+
I'll trade obnoxious little dipshit teenaged assholes trying to look cool for possibly larger dipshit drunk adult assholes trying to look cool for a change of pace.

I'd go see more movies in the theater if they gave me the "Pause when I go to the washroom" option :p
I can't remember the last time I saw a movie in the theaters, at least not since I bought my big TV and blu-ray player, and my seat is always reserved and alcohol always available.
UltraAVX sounds cool but It's not going to get me going to the theaters.

You were never able to as far as I can remember. However, sneaking in a flask and portable vaporizer is recommended.

I find some staff in metropolis' cineplex are assholes. Normally buying 2 tickets in 1 transaction will give u 100 scenepoints. So to bypass that, I buy 1 ticket showing my scenecard. Pass the scenecard to my gf to get another ticket. 200 points gained total for 2 tickets. Richmond and Coquitlam staff dont give a shit. But metrotown people threatened to confiscate my scene card because it is against terms of agreement (got caught twice with metrotown).
Nowadays I am forced to use my mobile app + physical scenecard

LOL I hear ya last time in Richmond the guy was like i'm not technically aloud to do this but whatever and did it. That's why my gf and I don't bother anymore and just use our own cards. Yes, it takes twice as long to get a free ticket but by the time we do get a ticket we both get one so it's really the same in a sense.

Food was meh when I went. Angus burger was okay I guess ... a bit overpriced @ $11 though (tasted like a quarter pounder on a nicer bun lol). I think the only time I'll be doing VIP from now on is tuesdays or when I'm hungry and its too late to go to cactus across the street
Seats were nice though (like AVX, except with tables), and staff were friendly :)

Just got back from watching MI:4
Pretty nice enviroment and great seats.
Food selection was ok, you can only order off the menu which has some special items. I wanted a poutine which wasnt on the menu so I had to go out and get it :okay:
overall pretty cool to check out. I probably wont go back again unless I saved up enough points to redeem like I did today.

is the screen as big as the ultraavx ones?
I really dont like any of the new theatres at all,
3D is garbage, obvious reasons,
and ultraavx, unless your sitting at the far back, the screen is far too big and you hafto keep wipping your head back and forth to see whats going on, also the seats arent anything special, their more annoying than anything when you recline and hit peoples legs.
not sure if I even want to try VIP, we went to mi:4 last weekend in a regular theatre, and it was much better, for me anyway, my gf agree's.
I have no problem paying more for a better experience, so far anything in 3d or ultraavx has been shit.
I watched immortals in 3d because it was only available in 3d, but man the whole time I was thinking, this would look 10X better on my HD screen at home.

Face it, most staff don't give a crap - most staff are in highschool!
I bought 2 tickets for my friend and I, and gave the staff both of our scene cards. He didn't tell me that it was only one scene card per transaction! Yeah I know it's only 100 points I missed out on, but come on, use your brain, and not just do your job like a zombie.
