Across from Costco. You can get through from the entrance across from the T&T. The portion outside under the bridge thing is the cheapest place I know.
is it metered?
and if so is there a limit?

Cheapest parking is going to be metered parking on the street, which probably have limits. All those previous suggestions are still a decent walk considering you are lugging a lot of stuff. Most garages are going to be pretty much the same price at ~$4 an hour or ~$14-15/day. Convenience wise, AMEC building across the street has parking and they used to have discounts for VCC students, but I would double check that still available. Maybe go and check in on a day you train down. The other option would be the Easy Park lot at the corner of Dunsmuir and Cambie.
19 dollars at the easy park but at least it's close, thanks!

I'm not too sure. I don't think there's a limit.
It's like a dollar an hour during non event times. You have to make sure you're not in the lot, it's just outside of it, across from the Costco.

Check the AMEC building to see if they have their Student special. Used to be $8 for the day.

Residential areas next to Chinatown. Union and gore is one example. You can park all day and night there for free. No time limit. You can abandon your car and come back to get it in a month.

How to pay for 4 hours of parking at 2 hour meter.
1. Sign up for a Versus account. Engineering Services, Parking Branch Home Page (http://vancouver.ca/engsvcs/parking/paybyphone.htm)
2. plug meter for 2 hours with change or credit card.
3. write down meter number
4. after 2 hours, call 604-909-PARK, pay for 2 more hours. (there is a 30 cent administration fee)

They got rid of the 0.30 cent transaction fee awhile ago.
All you pay for now is the time you need to park for
