: A request from Revscene

I was changing some settings overnight (well overnight for me, ended up being prime time for the site) that screwed some things up. Buttons weren't working, etc. Some people had a problem where the page would only load an advertising.

People non-chalantly said that they didn't have that problem, since they are using AdBlock.

The issue has been fixed, but for everyone using AdBlock, please don't. Ads are how we keep the site running on premium servers, running at the fastest speed possible, with the most access possible (I understand that BB users are having issues, but those will be resolved shortly)

So again, please disable adblock. The ads aren't intrusive here, just one at top, one on the side, and one in the first post. The site is free in every other way, so it's not much to just allow ads to be displayed while you enjoy the site.

I'll continue to make RS as good as it can be! I don't request users to do special things for us like donations or anything like that, but this one thing would be really helpful.

Thanks!

Having adblock on is second nature to me. But if turning it off means helping revscene, off it shall be.

I have no problem doing that at all, I'm so used to ad's these days anyways since I don't have adblock at work

I haven't run an adblocker in years, other than my own mental adblocker.

Just curious, though: do you still get revenue without clickthroughs? I mean, I see ads on all these sites, I tune them out, I never click them...

Someone needs to make a browser plugin that will click "allowed" ads and force them to open in a new hidden window that will then close itself. Then you can get the clicks :)

I'm not asking that people click ads, just that they not block them :)

The ads are not a problem for me. I don't even remember when they started showing up.

^ this. Honestly feel the same way they've just gradually appeared over the course of time that i've been on RS.

I have to say, they're rather well implemented compared to a lot of other websites. I really don't find them to be much of a distraction at all

A plea from Revscene's administrator SkinnyPupp....

If everyone just disables adblock or any variation of the plugin for the site, Revscene would be able to sustain its revenue and pay for its servers. By doing so, you are helping countless individuals with "left turn accidents", "lobster hot pots" and "can I dispute " questions.

The message of Revscene is a simple one. Help the community. So please band together, as a community, to help Revscene. Remove all plugins like adblock!

This is how I expected this thread to go down.

:lol

So long as we don't implement those hoverlinks, I couldn't care less if there are ads on here. I haven't run an adblocker in year. lol

I've developed over the years selective eyesight. I don't even see ads anymore on the forums. Who needs ad block unless they pop up during games which are annoying as hell.

I tried porn ads in the NSFW section.. I think 2 people ended up buying an SG account but that's it. Piracy is bad enough, but it pretty much owns the porn industry.
