I can see that there's quite a bit of people working in the industry sifting through this forum. Their posts have been informative and helpful (you know who you are ;)) And for those who shared pics of your DIY projects--thank you for sharing and building up this forum. No pun intended :P
By no means am I an expert, but I do enjoy trying. Plus, I save myself some money.
Anyways the latest install has been this programmable thermostat. I was pissing in my pants because I took a gamble with it possibly not working. With the help of the internet researching and googling honeywell, I managed to do it. I'm sure there may be some things I missed, but the experts on here can help me :D
Old analog thermometer.

Analog cover off. That mercury is super sensitive, so watch out. Also note the LONGER written..

Yank it out. Oh shit. two wires. There's like 5 slots in the new one.

I followed my instinct and plugged the White wire in the W and the blue wire in the R's (there's a jumper that joins the two).

So far my furnace is working, so I'm happy. I've got to read up on how to program it though. I can adjust it to save more energy costs. Thoughts?
