Do you guys know any good area for changing canadian to yen?
calforex used to have really good rates but they closed. and banks just rip you off. :suspicious:
Try Vancouver Bullion & Currency Exchange, VBCE.ca (http://www.vbce.ca/)
I find they usually have pretty good rates
Try calling Money TT (there's one in Crystal and another on Westminster near 3rd) or Shu Hui Da (across the street from Landsdowne). They have given very good rates to me while I was in GVR.
moneyway gives best rates, esp if exchanging >$100K (no balla)

When I go to Asia I usually exchange at Yaohan in Richmond. Forget the name but it's not actually inside Yaohan but it's one of the few stores outside in the front.
For American I either go to Vancouver Bullion if I'm not lazy or I just go to the bank. I know the bank isn't the best rate but I'm only going to be exchanging $500 tops so the difference I lose isn't much imo. Of course it's money and some people want to get the most bang for their buck which is understandable.

I think that place is called Kingmark.
Kingmark (http://www.kingmark.ca/currecy%20rates.php)
They have a place in Crystal Mall too. Their rate (when I last checked a few months ago) is slightly better or equal to VBCE. Like winson604, I just go to wherever is most convenient. I usually just change $500 at a time and it's not worth driving all over town to save $2.
My preference is VBCE (better rates then bank)

+1. Vancouver Currency Bullion Exchange.
calforex used to have really good rates but they closed.
Aren't they in Richmond Centre? I remember seeing it in there last time I was in there. I noticed they did have slightly better rates that VBCE (at least for USD). If anything because they're in the mall, they'll have better hours than VBCE.

Try ordering online at your online banking. That would give you the best rate and have it delivered to one of your branches. If not, get USD and exchange it in Japan. That would probably give you the best rates.
If not, VBCE.

Vancouver Currency Bullion Exchange will always give you the best rate. At least for buying USD

They don't, money way is better, call them both and get a quote - I've moved an awful lot of money through them recently and this is what I have found

gonna bump an old thread. for those of you who've gone to kingmark, do they charge a service fee?

Admittedly I haven't gone to them in over a year but when I was last there, no they didn't.
The only place I remember charging a service fee is Calforex in Richmond Centre. VBCE or Kingmark didn't.

I go to VBCE, you can sign up for their Preferred Customer Program and get slightly (very slightly :P ) better rates.

Everforex > VBCE > Banks
I've had cx come in with rates from these guys and some times we cant even call in to our back office to match them! I'm not sure if they beat VBCE's preferred rates but their normally posted regular rates. Not a problem.
They have a rate calculator on the website.
They have multiple locations from downtown, oakridge mall and metrotown.

(My experience/knowledge talking to others is USD exchanges mostly.. not sure about yen)

Is there a limit to how much these places can exchange? Lets say I'm exchanging 10k$ USD to CAD

nope, just call the plaec ahead of time, telling them how much you need.
FYI, for Euro, i always call ahead asking NO $100 bills. It's a HUGE pain in the ass to break a big bills in Europe.

depends if you're doing cash or electronic.
and they'll report you to FINTRAC for that amount.
