Technology, the great equalizer.

My wife works with children with autism and I feel more related when I watched the video.

I think autism as of today, with perhaps millions in funding pouring in, it's still in its early stage. But this video shows that through technology, we might have a chance to finally crack the boundary that limit us to understanding them; the voice of their side.

The problem with communicating with children with autism is that there are chances either side could not interpret the true idea that the other party is trying to say. This video showed that although the girl did not have a properly developed speaking skill, her ability to convert her ideas/feelings into a set of information is still intact. And by giving her the ability to type on Word, she was able to tell us what she truly feels.

Let's just hope the govt would step in and give some funding so some great minds in computer/electronic engineering could develop a proper system.

I used to tutor Autistic children/teens back in the day. Thanks for sharing the video. After watching this, I tell you, it's quite a relief knowing that they do understand you. I always worked with them as if they did but in my mind I was never 100% sure.

What's amazing is the knowledge we get from her about people like her.
I now assume that every single autistic kid is there , always thinking like us. The only difference is what their brain is forcing them to do.

As someone who dealt with Tourettes syndrome when I was 12, I can understand what she means when she says that its feels like she has to do something.
