Graphics card dilemma, need advice

I'm currently debating whether I should change my graphics card.

Current specs:
i5-2500k @ 3.6ghz w/ hyper 212 heatsink
8gb patriot viper extreme ram
Gigabyte z68xp ud4
Asus GTX 570 directcuii
Corsair tx750 psu

Runs battlefield on ultra without much issue, but when it gets too crazy fps drops below 30 which could be annoying at times.
Since my mobo supports sli I'm wondering whether I should get a 2nd GTX 570 or sell my current card and run a single GTX 580.
But the downside to sli is that I won't be able to use my pci wireless n adapter and would have to find an alternative.

going to a 590 will see more benefit then 2 570s..
going dual videos will also need a faster CPU to see good performance benefits.. otherwise your CPU will be the bottleneck

if you upgrade your video card, let me know.. i may want your 570...

I wouldn't upgrade from 570 to 580, you won't feel much differences. Its wasting $$

I would rather go for Nvidia 590, or Radeon 7970

Check this out
Benchmark Results: Battlefield 3 : AMD Radeon HD 7970: Promising Performance, Paper-Launched

7970 is faster than Nvidia 580, a bit weaker than 590

But they have huge difference in price.

Nvidia 590 - $700+

Radeon 7970 - $560+

580 1.5GB is overpriced considering it's Q1 2012
sli up on the 570 or go for the 7970
moving you wifi solution is cheap

Thanks guys.

The GTX 590 may be a bit out of my budget at the moment, since it's well over $700, not to mention darn taxes :S

If I pick up the 580, I wouldn't have to add too much on top. But if I pick up the 590 I'd be paying more than I would for another 570.

I'll see how much I can dip my savings into this, but if they release a directcuII version of the 590, that could be an option. With the Kepler and Maxwell releases in Q2 this year, maybe I could wait a bit too.

Don't give too much hope on Kepler.
Nvidia has shifted their focus onto Mobile phone / Tablet market.
More profit on the ARM processor ? lol

Latest news indicate that Kepler might get delayed till end of 2012.

I m currently using Nvidia GTX 580 Xtreme version. This might be the last Nvidia Video Card for me if they cant beat new ATI 7xxx series with Kepler.

Yeah, and if the prices are too high for a card that can just marginally outperform the ATI 7 series I might think about switching over too. But from what I heard ATI drivers are usually slower than the nvidia ones?

^

Usually about a week or 2 later.

I remember for BF3, Nvidia drivers came out right away while ATI ones came out 1.5 weeks later.

get another 570 and SLI. You probably don't need to upgrade for atleast another year, maybe 2.

Nothing will utilize the new PCI bus for the next year, even looking at PCI-E 2.0 it's still more than enough.
