I found a car in CL that is american and the guy offered the vin.
I punched in the VIN into carfax and it came back with 12 history records.
I havent paid for the actually info sheet. :badpokerface:12 seems a little high for a report or is that normal?

Ive never actually used this service and im not sure what they document on the reports, so any advice would help.

thanks in advance

edit: i just checked with another company, and 6 showed up. so im not sure how accurate this is.

What records? Lease transfer can be count as 2.. one to the leasing company, and one transfer to the leasee.. Annual "air care" / smog check will be count as 1. You need to pay for the info to figure out what they are.

a record can even be when the car was brought in for a service or check up. A car with 12 records could be no accidents. A record could be positive, negative or neutral

thanks!!

if they do keep a record every time it went into service that makes sense for the number to be so high. i just wasnt sure if they do they or not.

It really depends on the dealership. Some share their service records with Carfax and some do not. You have no way of knowing what the 12 records are until you pay for the report.

On the other hand if you do an ICBC claims search and comes back with 12 records, I would steer away from this car.
