im looking to get a used car soon since taking th ebus is unbearable and takes half the day away, plus gas is cheaper in winnipeg.

-good fuel econ
-4 doors
-not older than 2005
-gas
-sedan
-4cyl
i was thinking a corolla or some mid-size seda
i know theres millions of threads like this but im just so overwhelmed by all the choices. i dont even remember all the brands and all the models they have

If you're looking for a combination of fuel efficiency and style (typical response), the newer civics are wonderful vehicles. You can nab one for around 10k.

It's not great on gas but if I had to get a sedan for that much and didn't care all too much about performance i'd go for the look and i think this does the job quite well. lots for 11-13K

Obviously there's gonna be some posers and tools who wanna make it something it isn't...i'm just suggesting it cause it's a pretty goodlooking and roomy car. Fairly classy and mature (obama drove one before presidency :fullofwin:) and all at a decent price.
There's a reason it sold as much as it did. No need for the fails simply because you probably aren't fond of the chrysler brand. Reliability ratings have also been great.

^maybe you should read the post more carefully?
he's not willing to fork out on a v6 and cares about gas mileage..
yet you are suggesting rwd tank that weighs 2 tons with a 3.5 v6?

i dont care about looks.
ive dont some research and now im thinking
-2007+ altima $10-13k
-2003+ accord $8-11k
-2003+ corolla $6-10k
-2003+ mazda3 $6-10k
what im not considering and the reason
-fusion - 1st gen is ugly and review say the 4cyl is weak
-camry - no handling and bad visibiliy
does anyone have suggestions for small suvs??

lolwut, camry handles pretty good and visibility isn't a problem

Mazda 3 is the only decent car you are considering. Subaru impreza, legacy, jetta tdi and 2.0t, WELL MAINTAINED audi a4 turbo, passat turbo are other options... As a car guy I am not able to recomend shitty cars, sorry for the inconvenience ;)

It'll be hard to find a 05+ CRV/Rav4 for under 10k.
Don't get an 02 Accord, the automatic transmissions are ticking time bombs, known to fail prematurely and cost for a replacement.

ive updated the op.
so 4cyl sedan is what i want.
deciding between these: accord, mazda3, and corolla.
reason im sconsidereingt he corolla now is because of the super fuel economy. compmared to the mazda3 (2Lengine) is the mazda3 much worse?? 32 vs 37mpg

2004/5 Mazda GS Hatchback with a manual (most fun to drive, best looking mid-sizer IMHO)

You drive long distance? On highways? Might want to get something with a V6 like an Accord/Camry. They're boats but they're comfy and the car won't feel like it's coming apart on highway speed.
Or get a good GT car like SC400/300 :fullofwin: Those are pretty cheap as well.
None are gas sipping but if I have to drive long distance, I'd rather have a comfy cruiser than a low torque&lightweight gas sipper.

Honestly there's not that much difference between a midsize 4 and 6 cylinder.. You're going to be revving the 4 up to speed, where as with the 6, you're just feathering the gas.
My 4-cyl Camry got roughly the same as my 6-cyl TL.
If fuel econ is your deciding factor, stick with the smaller 4 cylinders.. Civics, Corollas, Fits, etc.

So far the best suggestion yet is a Jetta tdi. I was pretty close to trading my tsx for one.

yup.. i'm gonna guess just as long as there's no sirens, lights and other stuff that an emergency vehicle has that would be prohibited from the general public.
been seeing a lot of former crown victoria former police cruisers lately. keep thinking they're unmarked police cares haha :suspicious:

it applies to 1999-2002 i think
my dad had a 2000 accord (auto 2.3L) and the transmission didnt hold up either. became problematic around 171,000km

my coworker drives one....
He bought it late last year and he really wants to get rid of it...
primary reason being:
people slow the fuck down around him and it gets annoying when you are in a hurry :okay:

Def the TSX.
Stylish, basically Accord parts/suspension but plushier, and relatively cheap on gas and reliable. That's why you see tons of them on road still = )

If I were you, I'd just get a 2010+ yaris. You could easily buy a low km almost new yaris in your price range. It's 4 door, 1.5L, reliable and new. If you go toyota dealership, you can even get warranty and maintenance.
