all I see is the man fiddling with the sideways +/- mechanism on a typical Mercedes automatic 7 speed...

Hopefully its better than the standard in my car. 1st is way too short, and the clutch too light.

I noticed he's using the +/- sideshift on the car too. Doubt they will bring out a manual ever in a c63

Trying way too hard to make it looks like manual.

the paddles are clearly seen behind the steering wheel, it's also missing the 3rd pedal around 3:00 on the video. manual AMGs have been dead for a long time now.

Face it, manuals are a dying breed. When the GTR went flappy paddles, you just know you must get whatever you can now :(

AFAIK Mercedes does not have a manual transmission capable of handling 300+ hp, and has not for awhile.
I remember looking around worldwide for a country that sold a CLK320 or CLK350 in manual, yet it didn't exist.

why do all these car companies go through the hassle of trying to make the automatic look as close to a manual shifter as possible? It's hilarious seeing 19yr old honger fobs in their parents BMWs with their hands on those fake manual trannys at stop lights like they're feeling out the clutch grabbing point. lol

We only have ourselves to blame. We stopped buying manual transmissions and the car companies responded.
Modern automatics may shift faster than a driver, but I still enjoy being in control. I will never buy an automatic for this reason alone.

^ i know alot of cars that rev match on the tiptronic/ sequential gearbox when they downshift.
so it might not be on purpose?

^ I have no doubt that modern auto transmissions are sophisticated. But, the more complicated something is, the more likely it is to fail. An SMG can cost thousands of dollars to replace. A conventional clutch maybe costs $1000? (Parts and labour)

While modern automatics last a long time with the proper care, for this reason alone I still prefer a manual.
My buddy grenaded the auto in his Lexus SUV (common issue on the early ones) and it cost more to fix than the truck was worth.

Mercedes is lame, they had Chrysler for all that time and couldn't possibly use the manual tranny from the Viper or even the Challenger SRT? Booooo. Hell they even have Getrag next door in Germany if they were so inclined. No excuse.......
I guess they're content to let BMW own the driver's car market and just build autobahn missiles.

Spotted a white c63 amg coupe today, gotta admit with the black front lip and rear valances/roof it looked real good and nice rumble exhaust.
Definitely an eye catcher!
Too bad theres no true manual... Still nice car though.

BMW is slowly getting out of the manual game too. I don't believe you can even get an M5 in a manual anymore.
Enthusiasts are simply a very small segment of the market. Most people buy Mercs and BMWs for the badge.

You can in North America! :awwyeah:
But yeah, no more manual for current gen M5 anywhere else in the world.
But hey, 1M came manual only.
Hopefully BMW will keep making them.
With 0 manuals from Merc, and Audi phasing out manual for R8, S4, S5; I hope to god BMW keeps the manuals coming.

Unfortunately paddle shifters are the way of the future. Ferrari already said they won't be bringing back manual transmissions, I doubt AMG Merc's will either.

i think mercedes should be more concerned about building a C Class AMG that actually has traction at 100% throttle before 5th gear :rukidding:

Mercedes hasn't offered a manual V8 since the 70's?
AMG did offer manual 5 speeds back in the late 80's but nobody really went for it. The AMG modifications depending on the motor you picked (5.2, 5.4, 6.0) would usually in the end would cost about a VERY conservative est. $60,000, just for a bodykit, bigger motor and wheels. Getting a manual box wouldn't surprise me if it was another 40 grand?
In 1986 you could get a 300E for $37,000, the 300E 6.0 AMG was $185,000....
I guess you could always call AMG and ask them :fullofwin:

manuals will be a rare sight in the next few model changes....dual clutch is going to repalce manuals and autos.....If you have a 09-12 manual shifting car, the value will eventually go up because car enthusiasts will miss the entertainment of driving a stick....
my friend (yes, real friend, not make believe), purchased a 08 F430 6 sp manual. Imo, he had to pay a +$30K premium over F1.......

AMG wasn't owned by mercedes in the 80s....it was still an aftermarket supplier, just like Brabus is today.
