I know a thread like this pops up quite often, so i apologize in advance.

I didn't want to post in the workout sticky thread because it gets swamped and my questions would be lost.

I am 6"1 about 160 pounds and 19 years old. I recently decided its time to go to the gym. Fairly skinny already with a tiny belly, i wanted to go to start being more healthy and maybe put on some muscle.

I went once by myself and was completely lost and had no idea what i should be doing so i jogged home. I asked a friend for help and he went with me twice and showed me what he did those days and it went super well. However, due to our schedules, I can't always go to him.

So my question is : Is there any certain way i should learn routines and where to do things properly? I don't want to just show up and look like an idiot and not know what I am doing.

Thanks

What gym?

When I was first starting out I just did squats and deadlifts. Definitely add those two to your regimen and your overall strength should improve.

All Pro's Beginner Routine (http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=4195843)

The strict structure makes it better for a beginner than 5x5.
