I wonder if the owner's insurance will pay out the amount stated in his "BC Assessment" (probably around $750,000) because I don't think he would get anything near that much if he sold it on the market.

It's your job to make sure your laundry machine is up to date every five years.

Gf's mom spoke to the residents upstairs and downstairs. Everyone made it out alive. Don't exactly know what happened, but the residents upstairs were all sleeping at the time.

Was there at 1am to see if the surrounding houses were ok.
Took the Fire crew 35 minutes to contain the blaze and a bit longer to extinguish it.

Are they referring to the lint catch that is inside the dryer that caught fire or the main air duct?

I was always confused by this.
Because even if the lint catch caught fire it's inside a metal dryer? How would it spread unless it melted the dryer, but that seems unlikely to me?

Who else went to clean the lint out of their dryer after reading the article?

its not just the lint trap. You should get it checked at a minimum every 2 years. Especially if you have poor venting, it should be checked every year. As well as people who own gas operated dryers. Poor venting, can cause lint to be built up inside of your machine and you won't even know it. So go and clean up your dryers folks.

its the land that's worth $, which they still have.

dryers say on them "clean out lint after every use to prevent catching on fire". its a common sense thing to do man

As someone said earlier, that value is almost entirely on land. Furthermore, house insurance doesn't operate this way. You insure your house based on an amount of replacement if an accidental incident was to occur. The owner could have been insuring the cost of replacement of $200k, $300k etc, all of which reflects the insurance premium. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Earthquake protection etc. are extra coverage.
