How are you guys watching anime these days?

I'm pretty much done most of the stuff on Netflix.

Looking for something chromecast friendly and free. What's there besides crunchyroll?

Bumping this. I just finished up Kuroko no Basuke, am excited for the release of the next season/movie (it gets released on my birthday, I can't wait). Also finished Karneval, it was really good if you're into animes with humans who turn into monsters and are hunted by a government organization with supernatural abilities/weapons. Afaik, there's only the one season out (I think it just started in 2016... I started watching it because I found out that the VA for Akashi from Kuroko and the VA for Aomine from Kuroko are both in it).

Crunchyroll anime awards.

Seem to be in line with what's been said here.

Does Yuri on ice actually have Yuri (anime genre) in it?

https://theanimeawards.com/

I used to follow anime-reactor awards but that died out for a few years now. It's great to have a North American anime awards to follow, especially one that's voted by other anime fans and not critics.

Yuri on Ice is the exact opposite of yuri, it borders on straight out gay!

As for this season, Youjo Senki is great if you like a mix of WWI and magical fantasy, but for maximum comfiness, Gabriel DropOut and Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid are fantastic. However, if you want something that goes way outside the norm of a high school romantic drama, check out Scum's Wish.

Yeah, the word I used was yuri, what I meant to say was yaoi.

It's been a while since I've had to use it. lol.

Gundam Iron Blood Orphans has only 2 episodes left in the series. I find it enjoyable.

Teen sex, gang violence and subtle same sex encounters.. not your afternoon anime anymore!

It's heavily implied, but no actual yaoi scenes if that's what you're concerned about.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies and gents. I will post what I think of Gundam Iron Blood and Yuri on ice after I've watched the series.

Just watched Yuri on ice. Definitely the best anime of the year, and it was a quick short watch. Hooked after the first episode, and it was entertaining throughout. I've come to the conclusion that they're figure skaters and are naturally going to tend to the gay side. At least, that's what I tell myself to justify watching this great show.

Next up Gundam, though it's 50 episodes deep right now. Not sure how I'm going to find time to catch up, but I'm sure I will.

Attack on Titan Season 2 finally!! I can't believe it's been 4 years

What else is everyone watching?

Oh? Attack on Titans Season 2 is on now? That's awesome, especially now that Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans Season 2 has wrapped up.

For what it is worth, IMO, Gundam IBO Season 2 is generally quite intense to watch, but especially after about 1/2 way through the season, plot holes and just the sheer lack of logic are ruining the story really, really badly. Personally, I am extremely unhappy with the way Season 2 turned out -- not because I didn't like the ending -- but because the plot lacks a central focus and is extremely poorly written.

Haha yea just saw Boruto too, too early to have an opinion on it.

I actually haven't started a new Anime for a long time, I was one of those guys that basically just watched Naruto/Bleach/One Piece

Finally started to watch new stuff like Boku No Hero, Titans (a few years back when it started), One Punch Man, Mob Psycho 100, and the Titans rip off, whatever Fortress, forget the exact name now. I guess I'll add Boruto to the roster.

Started watching Dragon Ball Super from episode 1. Only really used to watching DBZ dubbed but why does Goku and Vegeta have such high pitched voices?!

Also decided to binge Your Lie In April after a friend suggested it to me. Not really an action anime but reminded me a lot of SAO season 2.
SAO spoiler just in case:
with that girl being sick and dying and all that

Season 1 or 2?

S1 was very good. S2, as a whole, is complete garbage, even though numerous episodes were emotionally involving. But damn... I've never been so pissed off about an anime series getting ruined by the script writer.

DragonChi

I found S1 to be the setup of S2.

Season 2 is where it all went down. It was kind of anticlimatic in terms of plot, but damn, it was ruthless. Like Game of Thrones ruthless.

Traum
10-21-2017, 12:25 PM
I wouldn't say S1 was intended to be the setup for S2, because at the time when S1 was aired, Bandai really didn't know whether there'd be enough traction to build on the series to make a second season... It wasn't until when they saw the strong plasmo sales that they decided to press on with a 2nd season.

But now they've created a bunch of very pissed off IBO fans. Would be quite questionable whether we'd ever see a Season 3...

DragonChi
10-21-2017, 12:57 PM
Yeah, they didn't leave much for a season three.

For sure at the end of Season 1 thought it would continue, there was still story left to tell.

I can see why fan might of been pissed. It's like they completely abandoned the main cast and went straight to a Gjhallahorn story.
