the hose for our central vac broke, need to find a replacement. I'm not even sure where to start. Searched online and can't find parts for BEAM vac's -- looking for any local shops I can go to get some info/buy..

Trade-Ur-Vac Vacuum Parts & Repairs - Vancouver, BC (http://www.tradeurvac.ca/)
This is where i went last time (October 2011). Old guy seemed very knowledgeable, knew what the problem was right away and was familier with my older style vacuum. Price seemed fair (though I had only called a couple of shops).
Give them a call for yourself

I recall seeing a place that sells Beam vacuums on Marine Drive. I think this is the place:
Best Security, Best Beam Vaccuums, Best Security Systems Vancouver, BC (http://www.bestsecurity.ca/beam_vacuums_vancouver/beam_vacuums.php)
I've also been to a place on Main St. that repairs vacuums. This one: All Vacuum Store The - 4673 Main St, Vancouver, BC (http://www.yellowpages.ca/bus/British-Columbia/Vancouver/All-Vacuum-Store-The/5945243.html)
