I'm redoing the floor in my kitchen and trying to source out some slate tile.

Ideally, I'd like to go with 12x24 with a honed finish (not polished and not natural).

Any recommended suppliers? I only need about 100 sq.ft.

Thanks.

Not exactly what you've described, but pretty close and super cheap.

Thought it might be worth mentioning.

Thanks man, I saw that one and like the finish but the size is a bit too big for my space. Sucks cause they're co cheap (for what they are).

I layed out other tiles to get an idea of what fit the room best (13"sq, 12x24, square and staggered patterns) and 16"sq kind of dwarfs the cabinets.

If you're in Vancouver, check out Home Idol.

Stonepac in Burnaby.

If not, go anywhere on Bridgeport.

Went to 6 or 7 places today where friends can get contractor rates, including Home Idol. Got it narrowed down to 4 styles from 2 stores. Luckily there are comparable options that don't run $7/sq.ft.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Home Idol and Olympia Tile

There's also Tiles for Less in Van and Surrey that don't require an account. Don't for get to check CL for guys that overbought and want to get rid of stuff cheap. Then there's always clearance items at Rona, HD, etc.

I personally would try and stay away from Home Idol as I've heard that their tiles are cheap but of even cheaper quality.

I agree, stay away from Home Idol. We bought their back splash for our kitchen. Nightmare to cut and cracked easily.

I know what you guys are saying about certain tiles at Home Idol. The ones I ended up getting from there were individually cut and are dead straight. With this style, it's really easy to tell if the tiles aren't perfect (12x24, no real texture, flat, 1/32 bevel). No issues installing or cutting them, other than working around imperfections in the floor. I didn't waste 1 tile of the 49 I used and none of them were broken in the package.

I used random staggered, glass and marble mosaic sheets (cut into 1/3rds) as an accent in my tub stall and a lot of them weren't straight or were broken and needed to be cut out and replaced. So it can be hit or miss, depending on what you buy.
