I just moved to China and bring my PS3 that I bought in Vancouver along with me. I connected my PS3 to LCD TV in here using HDMI cable but the TV does not detect any signal.

Some says that HDMI is universal and does not affected by PAL or NTSC, but I do not know why my PS3 cannot work in here.

Anyone knows what's going on?

i think u have to tell it that its a pal tv in the settings

or that ur screen supports 576p etc

connect ur component cables first (the ones that came with the ps3), change the display settings and then hook ur hdmi back

i had to do it when i mailed my friend a ps3 but its been so long im not exactly sure on the process but yeah use the cables that came with the ps3 first, after that u can use the hdmi

I tried using the composite (Yellow, White, Red) cables that come with the PS3 and still no signal.

go google, i think u hold the power button on the ps3 down for x amount of seconds, itll beep 2 or 3 times, it'll reset the video settings down to the very basic settings, this way it should show up on ur tv and u can change the settings to the once compatible with the tv

What should I connect before the video reset? HDMI or Composite?

I just got it working on composite. Now, how do I change the setting so I can use HDMI with this PAL TV? I recall there some setting of unticking or ticking 546 something. Anyone knows?

My PS3 is displaying with the composite now and when I chose HDMI, it just goes black and went back to composite. Is there any step that I have done wrong?

New Update: I plug the HDMI cable from TV into my laptop (Dell from Canada), the TV is switching back and forth between a black screen and the computer display but it never turns out normal. Is my laptop has NTSC or PAL just like my PS3? Or is the cable broken? I cannot try another cable as I don't have an extra for now.

Was it the video reset? I recently did the same thing, video reset seems to have solved it. Does your PSN work in China? I can't seem to connect to mine.. (In Guangzhou if that makes any difference)

No... it keeps giving an error message. Is it blocked by the gov't?

it shouldn't matter where you bought ur ps3 from.. perhaps try to make a PSN account in china and connect to the PSN china instead of canada and see if that works.

im getting a dns error, ps3 purchased in Vancover. I really want to update my ps3, and snag roster updates for a game. Also are ps3's power specific, I'm usin a down converter to fit the ps3, just to be safe. I've seen the 110/120v mark but not 220/240v.

well you could try using a VPN or proxy and see if that works.. i know PSN works in china.. except you can't add any fund using ur CC so the only way is to buy PSN cards.. so try to setup a VPN or proxy and see if you can connect to PSN..

I don't use anything, just plug it in the power outlet. It says 110V but it's actually dual voltage.
