With gold as expensive as it is today, you'll have a really tough time trying to find a good price. My friend went around looking for one and we were both pretty shocked at the prices of even razor thin chains.

I agree with the current gold prices being really expensive.

If the OP thought about getting a gold chain 6-8 years ago, at that time gold was decently priced.

or you could try the jewelry store in metrotown beside blue ruby

they receive their stock from liquidated stores and what not. could get something for a good price, i remember they do have a once a year sale where everything is anywhere from 40-70% off

you could try luk fook at aberdeen or the gold shops there but gold prices are standardized so any additional $$ is the design which is pretty negotiable
