Hi so my dad was microwaving something with the cover on and it melted. I guess he over microwaved the damn thing. Anywho the thing turned black and smoke filled the house.

Its been 2 days since and the house still smells a bit. My mom was worried though that there may be some radiation or chemicals inside the microwave that we should be awware of before using it again.

Anyone have any info on this ?

Thanks

light up some scented candles if the smell doesn't go away

Thanks, I've been febreezing and airring out the house, our main worry is if we can still use the microwave or buy a new one, we'd rather salvage it if we can as we just bought it in the summer

Get a new one, the chemicals will still be in ur microwave for a while since it was plastic.

I would have aired out the microwave outside right away. I'm pretty sure that you don't need to buy a new one, just give the inside a good scrub down.

Not worth the risk. Get a new one, microwaves are pretty cheap considering the amount you use it and how long they last.
