Even though Colin Farrel is no Arnold, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel will probably still make this movie worth watching. The full trailer comes out on Sunday.

In an interview with Collider.com, Len Wiseman was also asked whether the three-breasted-woman was going to be in his movie or not. Wiseman said there were some references to Verhoeven's movie in it and one of them was the three-breasted barmaid. And that's where Wiseman accidentally spilled the beans. He mentioned that the he couldn't show the three breasts in the PG-13 Theatrical Version but he also explained that it was very likely that the topless barmaid could be admired in the Unrated Version on Blu-ray and DVD.

I wont lie; I like the original and this one looks like a decent remake. The issue I have is that Hollywood is basically recycling old movies (and tacking sequel upon sequel on others) simply because it's easier than coming up with something that's new.
I'm just dreading the day when they announce they're remaking Casablanca, staring Keanu Reeves... or Schindlers List, with Nicolas Cage as Oskar...

i'd probably rather see remakes than the same movie in 3D

oh i agree the list of remakes, reboots, reimaginings, borrowed from, based on, etc etc that seem to be in the works is :heckno:
like the upcoming Lockout movie with guy pearce seems to be a rip off of Escape From NY/LA but this time in Space
as for Casablanca its been tried in the past to remake, prequel, sequel it ;)
but a lot of the classic films are remakes themselves of even earlier films that simply didnt attain the heights of their predecessors

Keep in mind that most of these "originals" people get so nostalgic about are already remakes/rehashes/reimaginings of existing books or short stories. The first Total Recall is based on (or at least "inspired by") a 1966 Philip K. Dick short story, so... not an original idea in and of itself.
A lot of times with these sorts of things, too, subsequent remakes turn out being closer to the original story they're based on, than the first version that everyone is comparing them to.

Total Ripoff (Total Recall Comparison - 1990 vs 2012)
Supposedly, based on plot information the remake is a closer adaptation of the book. I'll probably still end up seeing just for the fight scene between Kate and Jessica.

Nope.
I saw the new one on Saturday, then re-watched the old one on Sunday. Surprised at how many similarities and call-backs there were after watching them back to back. Especially the lingering camera on the lady at the metal detector.

I watched it a couple nights ago. It was pretty good other than the fact that they skipped a lot of backstory which is needed but can't fit it in I guess. The movie started out in the middle of a plot and I didn't really get it until after I started to realize that the start of the movie was actually going in progress. That's the only thing I didn't like about it

It wasn't a great movie. It wasn't an actionpacked thriller of mind boggling escapades. I gotta say, it had less plot holes and made more (and less) sense than the one with Arnie, and make sure you pay attention to the scene with the Passport section. It's a nice cameo homage.
All in all, it was a decent movie. I was entertained. It was worth the $8 to see it in the afternoon in a half empty theatre.

the 80's recall was much more satisfying IMO. They seem to throw in a ton of parts from it into the new one very randomly.. 3 tittie scene was totally confusing to me..

yeah that was really unnecessary and didn't really fit at all but it was something fans really wanted i'd rather have seen the exploding head ;)

On the bright side, they didn't kill off the psycho "wife" nearly as soon ;)
It was a well-done movie, but ultimately... it was just another movie. The 1990 version was a lot more fun (bad bloated-faces effect notwithstanding), and come on, Arnie's one-liners are what it's all about.
"Get your ass to Mars."
"See you at the party, Richter!"
"Consider dat a divorce."

Also the plot twist in the 90's one was much more satisfying than the new one.
