Caught this on my car cam yesterday morning on Arthur Laing bridge just before 8am. Young female driver in black Benz hancuffed, so was the passenger. One is near the cruiser the other near the benz. They appeared to be students. Video not too big but hope you can see it.

This morning I also noticed a cheater was not in his car, but was in the back of the RCMP police car. Is this their new way to deter cheaters?

I pay more attention to my surroundings when I drive in the HOV lane. So really it's safer for me to be there.
Off topic but I wish people would fucking learn that the HOV on hw1 ends at 7pm...
Students in an S-Class? Ballin'!
So are you troubled by the handcuffing, being detained in the back of a squad car, or just the fact that they're pulling over people for improperly using the HOV lane?

I think there's more to it... maybe DUI? didn't see an N in the video, but if they were N drivers just one sip means DUI!

You have no idea what they were actually pulled over for, right?
You're just guessing it was for an HOV violation, it could be something entirely different.

Wouldn't it be better that people don't know the HOV lane ends so there is less traffic in it for people that know it ends at 7pm?
or are you referring to people that get choked at you when you're in the HOV lane by yourself after 7pm?

Because there are always a few slow people in there after 7pm messin with the flow of traffic.

I don't think it was DUI because the Benz first zipped past me on Russ baker just past BCIT. Then like 5 minutes later when i caught up they were already pulled over as in the video in handcuffs so they couldn't have gotten tested so quickly.

If there were two people in the car aren't they allowed in the HOV lane?

Maybe she was driving without a license? No insurance? So many possibilities out there

that stretch is 3+... look closely at the sign you will see three heads (I'm not kidding, the number of "heads" in the signs do make a difference)

that is true. before i think it only showed a "2+" and no heads. Frankly i was unsure if it meant 2, or more than 2. So the that's probably why they changed it to show heads. :)

you dont even know if they were driving in the HOV lane at all.... they're just pulled over to the safe side of the road so they dont impede traffic...
pulled over sclass, handcuffed driver/passenger = drug dealers/gf's :)

Excessive speeding, driving without due care and attention, evading the police, homicide, trunk full of drugs/guns/dead bodies, just robbed a bank........................
On another note, what's it going to take to make the signs on Hwy 1 way larger and read:
STAY RIGHT EXCEPT TO PASS?

oh you and your assumptions.
with a shitty assumption title, OP received 2 fails? lol
should receive a million
maybe she was selling drugs? maybe she was a prostitute? maybe she went over the speed limit?>

I don't think cheating in an HOV lane is a criminal offense and to be handcuffed because that's pretty far. :derp:

Seriously,
do you really think the RCMP would take the time to pull people over for violating the HOV lane, and then proceed to handcuff them purely on THAT violation? By handcuffing them, you've pretty much detained and/or arrested the perp;
which therein involves reading them their rights and cautions and requesting a lawyer and so on...
No doubt there's more to the story. ie: outstanding warrants etc...

It's also quite normal to have back-up present when stopping HOV infractors...:rukidding:

Next time, you should pull over and ask the officer why the lady is being cuffed.
Then you can make a post without assumptions.

OP you're a moron. To answer your question, NO. Police will not handcuff you for an HOV violation. It's a moving violation not a criminal code violation.
LOL if speeders aren't handcuffed, why the hell would HOV violators be handcuffed? :rukidding:

Her crazy gang bf gave her a stolen benz for present and she got pwned on the road by the cops....
........is more plausible than getting cuffed for HOV cheating.

Op is a perfect example of how stupid people are nowadays. Not just ignorant stupid but a complete lack of common sense. Like your parents are blood relatives stupid.
Makes my life easier knowing that even with dementia my old ass will have more sense then an entire generation.
example is the amount of self incriminating videos/fbook stuff. When I was a lad that shit was called evidence.
