GF's friend dropped her D90 + 18-105 today and the lens basically snapped off, body is fine and works but lens mount is pretty damaged

You can see where the "tabs" have snapped off

A regular (albeit metal) mount for reference, you can see the 3 "tabs" clearly

I took the lens and the aperture adjustment works and it'll zoom in and out,
I put it up against the body simulating a properly mounted lens and could still take pics with it but the autofocus although it goes through the whole range seems flimsier/more inconsistent in movement, although I don't have much experience with these lenses.

Anyone have experience with this?
I tried going around today but by the time I got back from autocross everything was closed, may shop around on tuesday but any advice would be appreciated.

It probably is salvagable as long as there are no cracks on the last piece of glass. Problem is finding the parts to repair it, might cost alot on ebay to find a replacement mount. You can try going to Nikon Canada in Richmond and get a quote, doubt they would sell the part to you tho.

A friend of mine had this happen with his 18-105 and D90. Nikon fixed it for a not so bad price. I think it cost about $150 or something.
