Its probably been asked before but i couldnt find any solid answers so thought id ask here.
Im looking for a local store that sells SLR video stabilizers like Glidecam, Flycam nano, Merlin, etc.
Dont really know where to look so a point in the right direction would really help.
Thanks!

i decided buy a glidecam hd 2000 from Genesis Matrix and wow did it cost a fortune! $660 smackers for a piece of rod and some weights. Better put it to good use.

I bought mine on BH for 450 and shipped it to WA. Some items like these are a lot cheaper down south.

i tried calibrating my glidecam balance and i got the concept of straightening it but i have the issue of the whole thing swinging left to right when i try to move it side to side or front to back. im not sure what i need to adjust.

DIY?
I've been looking around at DIY rigs (shoulder mount) because the actual thing is too damned expensive.

You're 50% there. You just have to do the drop test now. Grab the bottom and place it level to the horizon. Let it swing down and roughly time how long it takes. Should be 2.5-3 seconds. Adjust it by lengthening or shortening the tube. Too fast - Shorten. Too Slow - Lengthen.

Oooooo...want.
But my problem with these things is that...I always feel like I could build them and save myself $500. Apart from the rotating handle on that rig, I don't see much I couldn't figure out how to build.

Leave your tripod attached with the legs collapsed - the extra weight helps dampen small movements. Cheapest DIY solution :)

the gimbal and handle is what you're paying most for ;)
