The interview with the cannibal at the end of part one is very disturbing, more so than I expected. I would not watch it again. Just a heads up.

Our prisons are a hilton. We have a huge ass prison, with easily 20 guards at any time, plus admin staff during the day to house 250 inmates currently at one local joint. Their woodshop made my jaw drop.

Unbelievable.

Sadly, you could eliminate 80% of the population if you actually worked on helping the native community.

What is the point of life sentences? These sick fucks aren't going to learn anything from their crimes, and if they do, they're never going to get out of the cell and do anything to change their life. Why not enlist a death penalty for anyone who does such a cruel crime? Fuck this humane nonsense. These people have no humanity. Sick basterd gave human to his friend who unknowingly fed it to his kids. Why should he sit in a cell and rot for the rest of his life? Save the tax payer dollars and send him straight to hell.

End rant.

^I think it comes down to an ethical and moral stance of we are as a society to take others lives despite what crimes they committed. The most important thing would be the issue of taking the life of an innocent person. Now I am in no way suggesting that these people in this video are innocent, but its the potential error that could occur if the death penalty is available. I think many people could agree with the rationale that we would rather let 10 guilty go than to execute one innocent. Granted, there are many documented cases of people on death row that aren't actually guilty and are later exonerated with DNA. Specifically, Canada does not have the death penalty because we almost accidentally hung 14 year old Steven Truscott in 1959 for the murder of Lynne Harper. He was acquitted recently in 2007.

It is also cheaper in the States to house them in prisons for life than to execute because exhausting every legal appeal, a very lengthy process, will cost the state a ton of money. The death penalty has not been shown to deter serious crime, and statistically, states in the US that have the death penalty actually have higher crime rates.

Death penalty doesn't deter crime, because criminals willing to commit crimes deserving of the death penalty AREN'T human. Humans can be deterred away from doing something, scum cannot.
Legal system lacks a lot of logic, many cases are extremely clear shut. In which case no money should be wasted and they should be promptly executed.

Can you imagine being the guard that has to check cells every 15mins nonstop for eight or more hours as your job for the rest of your life... I'd rather work at Mcdonalds, at least there you can interact with people and fool around with fellow employees.

I wonder how the family responded to the meat. Did they find it tasty or disgusting? For him it was kinda biased since he knew it was human. Would have been more disturbing if they said that.

Well there's a difference between a 25 year sentence and a death sentence. If the man is going to be in jail his entire life and he has admited to his crimes, why not put him out of his misery? 30 years in a cell won't help him become a better person... I hate that movie Dead Man Walking for showing that the death sentence is used in these type of misjudged situations. Damn you Sean Penn!

And I highly doubt a state will have higher crime rates BECAUSE of executions. I think it's more of a retaliation to the high crime rates. In a way, it's thinning out the herd.

Giving a man 30 years in a place like "Black Dolphin" will clearly deter him from crime. Put this into perspective:

Your about to kill a family, and you think of the consiquences if ever caught. You could either die a quick and painless death by injection.. or you could spend the rest of your worthless life in a FIFTY SQUARE FOOT cell. If you watched the movie thoroughly, you'd see the prison wouldn't have too many expenses. The get soup (looks like leftovers anyway) with bread. That's it.

They say it's these prisons are inhumane, but they also hold "inhumane" people. The justice system here, by god everyone knows, is much too lax. Bring 1 of these prisons here, and I doubt anyone will do anything wrong.

Can't remember the segment, but the 1 guy saying you steal a "sack of potatos" and you get "6 months in high security prison"... :lawl:

^poor people in russia will commit crimes no matter what. add to the fact that alcoholism is a serious problem there so not only are people drinking but a lotta their parents drink while pregnant. essentially im saying like many places in the world a good chunk of prisoners are "criminally insane" and do not have the common sense to not commit crimes. i totally agree that sitting in jail will make unregret what u did but theres a reason why most prisoners when released go back to what they know

But they aren't going to learn anything they put to use because they'll be in prison their entire life. And I highly doubt the idea of black dolphin strikes fear into people who commit these type of crimes. If you kill a man, your options of either going to black dolphin or getting killed yourself don't really deter your reasoning for doing it. The facility seems to employ a lot of soldiers and take up a lot of space. and the emotional damage of the victims and their families adds up when these people walk around in a cell(Relating to the clifford olsen thing. Why wasn't that sick basterd put down the first chance that came?)

I'm just trying to host a friendly debate, no offense to anyones beliefs.
