question for guys out there.

how many of you take care of your appearance? i mean so in a way such as getting your eyebrows shaped every now and then, always clean shaven, wax your chest/back, shave/trim your armpits, your pubes n whatnot...

i ask cause i was out with a girl today and she says i was the first guy shes ever seen who shaves/trims armpits...wich kinda blew me away seeing as how i know dozens of guys who do this....so it got me thinking...

so, how many of you guys do grooming on yourselves?

I spend more than $40 to get my haircut from a talented stylist, I get my eye brows shaped, shave my chest, trim or shave arm pits and pubes, wear cologne daily, have had no polish manicures done a number of times with my female friends. I'm wouldn't consider myself metro, but I suppose I meet some peoples definitions of the term.

I enjoy and prefer being well groomed and I have never met a girl who would did not appreciate it.

okay good, cause im basically in the same boat, i dont consider myself metro at all, but i do take damn good care of my body...ive never had a girl complain about anything i do...i just found it quite shocking that this girl has never seen a guy who shaves/trims his armpit hair...anyone who wears fitted shirts knows what happens if you sweat with bushy ass pits....biggest fucking sweat stains ever...

IMO any grooming besides keeping yourself clean is unnecessary and contrived, this goes for men and women

I shower every day, use shampoo once a week and shave twice a month. I also brush twice a day. I get my chest/back and arms shaved whenever I am getting tattooed. I'm at the very lower limit of grooming I'd say, but my girlfriend likes me being a bit rough around the edges. I can't believe how many people in this city are worse than that though. So many homeless looking/smelling hipster motherfuckers out there. Being stinky isn't hip.

Hell yeah! I love it. One thing I love about mainland girls :megusta:

But that's just personal preference, it doesn't really matter to the topic itself. Regardless of my preference in terms of aesthetics, I think it's bs that women "have" to groom a certain way. They should be able to do what they want.

I clean my eyebrows but not shape. No hair on chest or back, so no need to maintain. Never did anything with armpit hair. I cut my own hair about every two weeks. Clean shave face about once a week. Trim down there every week.
I have dry combination skin on my face so I do use moisturizer. And sometimes body butter where my skins dry and itchy.

I have bi-weekly haircuts. I shave my face once a week, don't really down there or arm pits. I cut my fingernails weekly but never my toes. Been to a mani/pedi before and wouldn't mind going monthly. I never use to moisturize but im starting to.

Since I work in a warehouse, appearance doesn't mean a lot to me at work, sweats and hoodies on the daily. But when I'm heading out on the weekend with friends & such, especially if I will be out in public or will be around new people I haven't met, I try to make myself stand out.

Eyebrows stay tamed/cleaned every 2 weeks.
Clean shave or once in a while I'll have a short clean "Tony Starks" goatee my friends always claim I look like.
Nails cut and clean. I get manicures done every 3-4 weeks from a female friend for free. I especially love when the ladies notice them. (Great convo starter)
Haircut every 3-4 weeks. Just recently have shy'ed away from the typical Vancouver look of the faded sides/fauxhawk. There's nothing wrong with the look, it's just so common that I'd like to stand out from the norm.
I also trim the front yard and both high trees every 2 weeks.
Don't have any hair on the chest or back so thats one less thing to worry about.
Moisturize daily after showers.
Also have a variety of cologne and hair products to use on different occasions.

Look good, feel good.

Trim and shave my beard.
Get hair cut when I have time.
Cut my nails almost daily. I play the guitar and my hands are often in chalk.

That's why we say to each their own :)

TBH I am way more creeped out by guys with groomed eyebrows than anything else. I think a women with a dick is more 'acceptable' than a guy with groomed eyebrows. (sexual preference completely not withstanding btw)

But again, to each their own :)

You have a red mohawk, no?

I vaguely remember a picture of you in the WO&T thread.

That would qualify as unnecessary aesthetic grooming.

To each there own, your grooming preferences as valid as mine. Just curious.

-Don't wax eyebrows, lucked out in that department I guess.
-Never shave, always keep a little stubble (look like a kid when I shave). Or if I'm gonna shave, do it Friday so by Sunday/Monday I got good amount of stubble again.
-Trim the chest hair whenever i see it getting out of hand, used to wax but didn't like the look. I like looking like a lumberjack. Same w/ everything else. Plus shaving is a PITA and when the hair grows back it itches like a mofo.
-Wash hair/shower 2x a day, brush/floss/mouthwash 2x a day
-Never moisturize hands are rough and hard as hell but gf likes it, and again, lumberjack.

The only thing I get lazy on (and if anyone knows me, they'll confirm this) is haircuts. My hair looks like shit when it gets long, but its just a bad habit of mine not to get it cut around final exams/midterms time. It grows out and looks nasty :fullofwin:

Yes to each their own. Obviously I include cutting hair, brushing teeth, nosehair trimming, and clipping nails as necessary grooming. But I'm sure you knew that, and are just being pedantic.

Oh I'm srs

It's a really new thing for men to be into women that groom themselves to look underaged. You can look at a collage of playboy centerfolds, and narrow it down to about 1998 or so...

But for the hundreds of thousands of years before 1998, men liked their women natural, and many still do. Actually throughout most of the world, they still do for the most part. It's mostly just US, Canada, and some parts of Europe who dislike natural women, for whatever reason.

WHAT SHAMPOO once a week@@ I use it everyday.....

I don't have much body hair so I don't really need to shave my armpit more than once a month....... pubes every once to two weeks, Get my hair cut every 1 to 2 month, Shower everyday......

I don't go overboard though like I won't wax my eyebrows ever lol.

Daily hygiene (showering, brushing, flossing, deodorant) is a no-brainer.

Cologne usually on weekends and weeknights.

I shave every 2-3 days, because for the life of me, I cannot pull off facial hair. Even the slightest shadow makes me look like a pedophile.

Get a haircut every 1-3 months depending on how I feel like styling my hair, but never paid more than $20 for a cut.

Nothing wrong with getting your eyebrows cleaned up. I've never gotten them shaped or waxed, but my girlfriend plucks mine every few months.

Everywhere else, I trim accordingly.

I don't think that's going overboard.

Now that I have relatively short hair, shampoo 4-5 times per week. When it was longer I had to shampoo every day. I simply cannot imagine only using shampoo once a week, my hair would be greasy as shit.

Recently started to trim my armpits. I say trim, because that's what it is. I can be quite hairy in those areas. I sweat a lot at work and gym. Even if I wear antiperspirant, sweat from somewhere else will somehow find its way there. Sweat leads to smell which is hard to clean out without using shampoo.

I need to keep some hair there just to absorb the moisture, otherwise it gets too moist. So I like to keep a happy medium between absorbing too much sweat and having wet armpits.

I try not to shampoo my hair unless I have to, but I read awhile back that not washing your hair, after awhile, will make your hair perfect.

An Experiment in Giving Up Shampoo :: The Druid Network (http://druidnetwork.org/ethical/personal/givingup)

I tried it for a little while, shampooing only once a week. Eventually I forgot about it and old habit kicked in and I went back to shampooing every day. Hair is dry as hell now and only looks nice wet. If you don't use shampoo for awhile your hair will adjust its oil levels eventually, but that's usually too long for most people to live with greasy hair.

Whether or not to use shampoo everyday is dependent largely on your type of hair, if it's very short and thin then it will get greasy more quickly than longer hair. Most girls for example, can comfortably shampoo once a week, because they have long hair.

I've cut back from daily to maybe twice a week with a touch of conditioner daily and less product, my hair definitely looks and feels more healthy.

I shampoo every other day, to let the dye last longer.

If you shampoo less, please be cognizant of odor. Even if you can't smell your own head, other people can. Maybe it's because I am tall and living in Asia, but SO many times I end up smelling someone's greazy head smell, and it makes me gag. Even if their hair doesn't always look gross and dirty, the smell is still there.

Also, there are a lot of people at the gym who don't shampoo all the time, and when they blow dry their unshampooed hair, it heats up their head stink and blows it all over the room. Again, I want to gag. :heckno:

I think what would help is to use a conditioner even if you don't shampoo. Conditioners do 'wash' the hair a little bit, and that should mask the smell a bit.

i work in an office, so keeping a well groomed appearance is a must.

my friend's mom is a hairdresser, and she introduced me to her own brand of shampoo. it doesnt give the squeeky clean wash that off the shelf shampoos do. in exchange, my hair doesnt get greasy or oily as quickly. its an even keel, id say. im comfortable with using it every day, or two.
if your hair dries out from using shampoo every day or two, then you're probably using the wrong (or a bad) product.

i shampoo + conditioner.. tea tree oil, doesnt really have much of a scent.

hair cut once a month.

i do get my eyebrows shaped, because they'd be a hell of a mess otherwise.

alternate between wet and dry shave every day.

face wash cleanser, toner and moisturizer morning and night. exfoliate twice a week.

i trim them pubes. lol. nothing wrong with mowing the lawn.

nails always kept short and a bare minimum of white.

i dont use cologne fragrances. if i ever do, its only one spray on the chest after a shower.

I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine.
In the morning if my face is a little puffy I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach
crunches. I can do 1000 now.

After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion.
In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub,
and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply a herb-mint facial mask which
I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine.

I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol,
because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older.

Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing
protective lotion.

I think I'm of the type that cares about achieving the 'clean' look.

I shower every day, brush my teeth once a day, and wash my hair every 2 days.
I also tend to put lotion on if I notice any dry areas on my skin. My face around my mouth and nose tend to get dry along with parts of my forearm, the area between my thumb and index, as well as my heels. So in these areas I tend to put lotion but I don't have to do it too often. I usually do it if it's dry to the point where it's obvious (white, flaky).

I shave every day pretty much and use the facial scrubber + cooling gel which I got from P&G from the freebies thread in VOT.

Don't trim pits or pubes but I am considering trimming my pits just for the "clean" look.

I think over the years I've developed certain habits for maintaining a clean and fresh look while minimizing any possibility of odours.

I put on anti-perspirant every day.
I never wear the same shirt two days in a row but if I didn't sweat in them then I may wear the same one again on the third or 4th day after, though in the summer I wouldn't do this for t-shirts.

I have 3 pairs of shoes and always alternate. I guess that's why my shoes never smell.

For socks I wear ankle low-cut ones, usually the ones with the thicker soles and heels, and I try to keep white ones white so if I know I'm going to be walking around in an area with no carpet I will wear grey/black ones instead if possible. The dirtiest my white socks have gotten is the typical grayish tinge that occurs after repeated washings.

Change my underwear every day.

I don't know why but I am sort of a stickler for (own) cleanliness, though I certainly don't bother about other people's hygiene as long as it doesn't affect me or physically bother me (like if there's an odour).

My gf is a clean girl and while I wouldn't mind if she doesn't shave her pits (she's from China but she shaves her areas :p) it doesn't hurt that she cares about how she presents herself.

from one female's perspective....I don't really dig guys that are TOO groomed.

If you have a uni-brow: deal it with, but don't shape them
If you have crazy back or shoulder hair: get rid of it
If you have chest hair: its cool
Butt hair: its cool
Nails: keep them trimmed
Facial hair: its cool
Pits: its cool

Pubes: GET RID OF!!!!!!!!! But you don't have to laser that shit....just keep it was fucking trimmed...and don't forget the balls. Using an electric razor is good enough.

Dudes that are completely void of hair.....are weird looking.

Lol you think you go over and above the average because you brush your teeth once a day and change your underwear every day?? I would hope that is the absolute minimum that the average person would do... personally I brush twice a day and floss every day and would brush a third time if I could find a way to do it at the office without being a huge dork...

For anyone wanting to trim your pubes etc, buy the Phillips Male Body Groom PRO. It's much better than the regular Body Groom. Somehow it's engineered to cut hair in a way that it doesn't really itch at all when it starts growing back. Amazing. Fortunately, I don't have much body hair to begin with.

Where can you get them? Seems pretty expensive.

I just pluck in between my eyebrows so I don't get a unibrow goin. I also use this facial wash since I've heard so much about it but tbh I don't notice a difference. After showing I will moisturise my face because it always gets mad flaky afterwards. Right now the one I'm using is a sunscreen as well.

Can anyone recommend a facial moisturiser without SPF that is water based and good for sensitive skin? Every one I've tried my forehead always gets oily as hell.

forgot about this thread

anyways, the girl who currently waxes my chest and back is moving away next month, so ive got a month to find a new person to do it. anyone know anyone? prefferably someone who can do it from their house, and in the burnaby/portmoody/vancouver area? i ask if it can be done from their house because im usually not free to have it done till around 8-9pm...so its just easier and more conveniant.

PS

for anyone whos interested, as some of you have gf's, tons of women sign up for this thing called a luxebox, wich is every 4 months you get a box mailed to your house of high end samples of cosmetic shit and etc..

well, the guys version is now out, its called Home page (http://www.glymmman.com) its 100$ a year, i got my first box in september, gotta say...the shit it came with was pretty cool....id go out and buy the stuff now if i could find it in stores...id rather not buy it from their website though cause you so know they mark that shit up lol
