Favourite Bubble Tea Place??

What's your fave?
I like Dragon Ball on King Ed at Oak but sometimes it's so small it can be hard to get a seat. Green tea shake is awesome!
Going to try Flo Tea Room with this BOGO coupon here (http://moeji.com/business/flo-tea-room/35/) . Hope it's good!
Any other recommendations? Someone told me about Bubble Queen but haven't had a chance to try it.

I've got tons of drinks at The One on Kingsway, sure great portions but I find that most of their drinks are pretty much Water & Ice, imo of course.
Especially their fruit slushes.
I love Dragon Ball on King Ed and Oak though!
Bubble Queen is pretty decent aswell. :D

The ones I frequent are:
-Flo tea room (Vancouver); haven't been to the Richmond location
-Dragonball (take out only as its pretty ghetto to stay there and drink)
-L&G on Fraser/41st (I get discounts there, take out only)
-then theres the usual various bubble world and Estea etc.

Oh God, I hate Estea with a passion. Both Burnaby and Richmond. Horrible service and out of stock supply. (fruit, food, and "bubbles") I ordered an item and they tell me they don't have it, I order something else, they don't have it as well! :seriously:
Whenever I'm in Richmond, Bubble Queen never fails me.
That place on 41st and Fraser is good too. Although they could fix up the interior a bit.
It's hard to come by good bubble tea in Surrey, so I seldom get it here. Not a big fan of Pearl fever. Bubble world is meh..

This place is weird.
I wanted to try this place and tried going there on 3 separate occasions (twice on a weeknight) and the people working there said the wait is ~1hr and told me to leave my name and number, and to call ahead of time next time. WTF! The place is so tiny. First time I heard that you had to make reservations at a bubble tea place before.
So screw that. I went to bubble world in the same mall plaza instead, and no need to wait too.

Same. But the gf always wants to go, so if I must, I get it without pearls and half-sweetened.
I remember watching them make it at Tea Works..
Flavored syrup + pearls drenched in syrup + ice + tea. Even the fresh fruit ones, they use a bit of fresh/frozen fruit in place of the flavored syrup, but still another couple ladles of liquid sugar. :okay:

The place across the street from John Oliver on 41st and Fraser is really starting to piss me off, been going there for around 2 years I think now before these new owners. With the old owners my Coconut Ice Cream no pearls was always on teh money !
New owners are hit and miss, sometimes it's good but sometimes it's as if they added way too much ice.... but my biggest problem with them is the blenders they use are super slow and weak, I watched them make my large ice cream Coconut and no joke, it took over 5 minutes of them crushing the ice, they had to stop numerous times to reshuffle the ice cubes, I was standing right there watching the whole time in disbelief, I thought it was fuckin joke, I don't know if you guys really noticed that when you go there, but that's the sole reason for their long wait times, is slow cheap blenders, it's that simple. They renovated the place with new flooring tables and chairs, but the only purpose that serves is people have a nice chair to sit on while they wait long for their fuckin drinks....useless since I've only a handful of times seen people actually chilling there at the tables having their drinks in my two years of going there.... the other day I waited over 30 fckin minutes for one single drink, and there was only about a dozen people there waiting
end rant.

i used to make bubble tea at my work.. the clear syrup that we used is just a simple mix of white sugar and water, it really depends on how sweet you like it.
we had a little scoop thing, i think it was like a tablespoon (give or take a half tbl.)
3 scoops powder, 2 scoops coffeemate, ice, hot water and a ladle of the simple syrup mix, IIRC.
from what i recall from watching the owners at green leaf do it, for the ice cream ones... they just put in ice cream and ice lol!

I think most old school RS members started going to Dragon Ball since it opened. Most people, like winson604, has a favourite and stuck with it. The mango or lychee slush was definitely one of the few favourites I had.
For me, bubble tea is bubble tea. But Dragon Ball's claim to fame was consistency. They are known for their fresh taro drink as others have mentioned, but I have never tried it.
Don't go there expecting a 4 star Michelin experience. All in all, I haven't had anything bad there of the 11 years I've been going there.

Previously, their taro milk tea had taro inside. For about 3 weeks, they were sold out of taro (milk tea). Now that they restocked, there is no taro in their taro milk tea.
The taro makes the $5.25 more worth it.

Milk & Sugar on Kingsway, west of Tyne. Love their specials and their small size when you don't feel like you want the normal bladder filling size.

I think they're a lot different from each other.
CoCo is milkier
Cha time more watery
So it really depends on you and what you like.
I normally don't get pearls (empty calories and could be bad for you)
Used to go to pearl fever for pudding slush with pudding but they make it weird now i'm sad about that :(
Watermelon slush at dragonball is good too :)
E tea is probably the worst place to go for bbt now a days (rupert and 22nd)

Theres only one roasted milk tea.
I've only had one other milktea there and thats the brown rice, and yes, it is watery. It can be negated by having extra milk. Of course it also depends on how competent the employee at the time is.

I don't mind trading quality for quantity.
A regular size (not small) at coco is like $5.40? Imagine how much you're paying just to get that one free.
Whereas, say, bubble world, i think it's like $4.25 and every 8 you get one free.
It's a huge difference if you ask me. Yeah yeah, I know I'm cheap.

Shouldn't be. I got my Chatime branded Vicinity card from the Richmond location and I redeemed my birthday one at the Burnaby location. But this still doesn't fully answer your question, maybe they will only accept it at the Burnaby location after all.

Chat time > Coco - For specialty drinks

I don't know what specialty drinks you're having a Chatime, but everytime I venture out of roasted milk tea it was extremely disgusting, wintermelon, chocolate mousse, taro, brown rice (although this could be made really good when more milk is added).
Not sure what the fuck you guys see in Coco, I tried their limited promotion roasted tea today and it was only slightly milkier than Chatime's roasted milk tea because they add a shit ton of milk powder in it, the taste of the tea wasn't that great and the overall execution was meh.
But looking at the general consensus here about bubble tea, it seems that most of you are concerned with flavours, ice cream, pearls, and milk and whatnot and not the actual TEA itself, so there really is no debate on a "favourite" as everyone wants different shit out of their bubble tea.
So based on the info gathered from this thread:
Shiny Tea: If you give a shit about having good quality TEA.
Coco: Overtly milky milk tea
Chatime: Roasted milk tea only
Dragonball: Ice cream and powdered flavours
Bubble World: Put all the sugar on everything X 2

Went to Dragonball recently for the first time in years. Was my favorite place for a long time (still probably is) but I found the fresh fruit drinks to be way too sweet. I know I can always ask for less/no sugar but I found whatever amount they normally put in is just too much.
Want to try Coco here. Tried it in China since they're everywhere but I found it to be pretty disappointing compared to pretty much anywhere back in Van.
^Yeah that's pretty accurate from my experience. I've literally never heard anybody critique the quality of TEA in bubble tea before. I'm assuming nobody notices the difference since it's always masked heavily with other flavors and 90% of places probably don't even care too much about the tea.

That's because the bubble tea people love here is just syrup and powder. People only care about the flavouring so they won't bother paying attention to the tea. I think its just a western culture thing. Taiwanese places like Cha Tang Hui and Ten Ren really emphasizes on the tea and specializes on their milk teas rather than having a plethora of flavours in their menu like most places here.
