"It looks like we’ll have quite a long wait until the return of Top Gear. In a recent interview with a South African radio show, Clarkson mentioned that Top Gear won’t be returning this year, presumably due to the Olympics."

Jalopnik reported it's not because of the Olympics, but due to Simon Cowell's new show or some shit which just happens to be airing the same time TG was supposed to.

Jeremy Clarkson just confirmed our report about there being no more Top Gear until 2013 is true, although the reason is not the Olympics. It's Simon Cowell.
Yesterday, we reported that the Jezza let slip on a South African radio show that they weren't going to be showing any Top Gear in the fall, meaning we'd have to wait until January to get our fix.

People threatened to jump off things. Others tried to find some way to deny it. Denial was strong with fans of the British motoring show, but in typical Clarkson fashion he took to his very real Twitter account to say "it's true."

The "fat people singing" is probably a cruel reference to Susan Boyle and Cowell's show Britain's Got Talent. Or one of the like 60 other shows Cowell produces.

Oh Jezza, never change.
You can see Clarkson's tweets in the article,
Jeremy Clarkson Confirms No Top Gear Until 2013, Blames 'Fat People Singing' (http://jalopnik.com/5908890/jeremy-clarkson-confirms-no-top-gear-until-2013-blames-fat-people-singing?utm_campaign=socialflow_jalopnik_facebook&utm_source=jalopnik_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow)

can't believe they'll skip TG for a season because of a Simon cowell show..i mean for crying out loud it's one of the most viewed tv series..cowell must have paid BBC big bucks for it.

gonna watch some of the earlier seasons then...i start TG at season 12 and I just finished S1 few weeks ago.

is pre2002 old top gear any good? I would give it a try but i probably can't stand the horrible video quality...

the original Top Gear is more like a normal car review show. Think "Fifth Gear". you can see Tiff Needel hooning/drifting around, which is always fun.

Inlove top gear uk, its the only REAL car review. Give a car show a enzo and see what they have to say about it: nothing but praises. But on top ear they would find all the small problems and blow them out of proportion, which is ok, BECAUSE THESE CARS are 500 grand + so they arent allowed to have any mistakes.

ae101
06-21-2012, 12:12 PM
no the best part about top gear is the fact that they dun just drive the car then say stuff about, they put it though tests that are as close as real life as possible

cuz i dun really care about the ride comfort as compare to breaking down in the middle of the road in my 2nd drive in my used car

also the should have done an olympic special

Fear not, Top Gear lovers! Mark November 19th down in your calenders as that's the release date for their latest pre-Christmas DVD, The Worst Car in the History of the World!

:fullofwin:

Link to DVD video trailer (http://bcove.me/9hf71chv)

A rough analysis of the comments across TopGear.com this year reveal that approximately 21% contain some variant of one plaintive plea: ‘when exactly are you back on TV?’ Well, the answer to that is next January, but in the meantime, here’s some very good news for those missing their dose of new Top Gear.

This November, Mr Jeremy Clarkson and Mr James May will present their opinions on The Worst Car in the History of the Worldin a brand new, all exclusive Top Gear DVD. Everyone has an opinion on bad cars (and feel free to share yours below), but now it’s time to hear the ones that (apparently) really count.

In this DVD special, Jeremy and James travel to the North of England to name and shame the most rubbish cars in the entire WORLD. It’s a labour-intensive affair, filled with heated debates, giant cranes, James being locked in his own car boot and…Jeremy being tied to a tree.

But don’t be fooled, it’s not all about terrible cars – to appreciate the stinkers you have to revel in some good ones too – like the 4.5 litre Ferrari 458 Spider, Toyota’s GT86 and the £340,000 Lexus LFA running shoulders with a Mercedes SLS AMG.

As they are up North, the boys invite The Stig’s Yorkshire cousin to be a guest driver. Putting his whippet to one side he throws the BMW M5 round a gymkhana course before testing out a couple of Transatlantic challengers with Jeremy and James. Things, you won’t be surprised to hear, don’t go according to plan.

The debate about theThe Worst Car in the History of the Worldcontinues while the boys play a few rounds of golf. But that doesn’t go according to plan either. They even put their own cars – past and present –into the reckoning. That ends badly too.

The rest of the time up North is spent arguing over the great and the awful from Peugeot, Ford, Mahindra, FSO, Alfa Romeo, Rolls Royce, Porsche, Citroen, Saab and many more.

There’s also a special surprise fate in store for the car picked as the biggest loser…

Top Gear: The Worst Car in the History of the World will be released on DVD, Blu-Ray and digital download on Monday 19th November 2012. It will also include a special augmented reality experience. We’re not entirely sure what that is, but it sounds good, doesn’t it?

Clarkson in the Aston, May in the LFA and Hammond in the Viper?

I could just as easily see Jezzer in the Viper (just feel that brute powaaaaaaaaaah). But if that's the case, then I think Hamster would probably take the Aston, if for no other reason so that Captain Slow could wax eloquent on the engineering marvels of the LFA.

That having been said, May may want to take the Aston just to prove "the Aston isn't always the worst car to bring on a long road trip". I seem to remember him buying a pillow to prevent his balls from breaking and stripping down to not die from overheating on the "find the greatest driving road in the world" trip.

Regardless, it's gonna be awesome.

Jezza loved all previous generations of Vipers actually. So my guess is it's Jezza in that, Hammond in Aston (Hamster already hosted the LFA launch review) and then Capt. Slow the LFA.

Typically, though, presenters don't repeat cars; they give them to the others so that they can compare notes and tell each other why they're wrong.

Well, capt slow definetly wouldnt be caught in anything american...

Clarkson loves raw stupid power like the amgs and the ford gt etc but then again hamster has a soft spot for american cars too so you never know..

I think its...

Aston = James May (comfy cruiser, seems like something cpt slow likes)
LFA= Hammond (test drove it and loved it)
Viper= Jeremy ( stupid power, rear drive...something jeremy adores in cars)

I've got BBC Canada, and they're doing the same there; unfortunately they don't distinguish between Top Gear UK and Top Gear America in the listings. Also, a lot of the eps are shortened (to accept ads, and cut out all the Yank-bashing), though some of the eps are extended to 90 minutes to fit ads as well as the full ep (like the arctic and middle east special).

The ads are the unfortunate part because in the UK it's commercial free and they have to trim the EP's here to fit the ads. I noticed they cut the "in the news" segments on some of the EP's and I noticed they bleep a lot of stuff, I guess I can see why they would bleep the word "cock" lol.

They cut the news and a lot of the SiaRPC, because most of the time they're british celebs and us colonials have no clue who they are.

Which is kind of sad, 'cause I've gleaned a lot of British culture/humor/randomness from those little segments. It's 'cause of them that I started liking good ol' Wossy.

Preview of what's to come in Season 19 in January/February
- from BBC America

Season 19 - Coming Soon

Season 19 of ‘Top Gear’ sees Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May engage in another collection of incredible adventures, absurd stunts and dream drives, ably assisted by their tame racing driver, The Stig.

In this series, the presenters use the Aston Martin Vanquish, SRT Viper and Lexus LFA for an incredible American road trip that takes in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and a race against some fighter planes before ending with a hair raising run to the Mexican border. The trio also create a unique car designed especially for old people, carry out one of Top Gear’s famously thorough road tests on the new Kia Cee’d and race a Shelby Mustang GT500 against a train in order to find the fastest way to get from Britain to Italy in time for a football match.

Also in this series, Jeremy invents the world’s smallest car and tests it out on the streets of London, James finds out what the Bentley Continental GT Speed is like on a rally stage, and Richard reaches eye popping speeds on the test track in the amazing, 720 horsepower Pagani Huayra.

There’s also one of Top Gear’s legendary epic journeys in which the presenters attempt to find the source of the River Nile using three rather tired estate cars and a sometimes sketchy knowledge of African geography. Along the way they encounter crocodile infested rivers, suspension snapping terrain and the world’s worst traffic jam. It’s the perfect conclusion to another brilliant series of Top Gear.

For those of you who remember, there was a British Military Amputee team that was working to get on the Dakar. IIRC they qualified but I've no idea where to find coverage on it and I would love to watch their progress, even if they don't do well.

YES. YES. FUCK. YES.

Haven't had a Top Gear fix for so long.

If there was only one show on TV, I would want it to be Top Gear.

YES.
