Analyst predicts that prices at the gas pump may go down this summer.
pastarocket
05-11-2012, 10:35 AM
This analyst seems to think that the price of gas will be lower this summer due to a better balance of supply and demand. Michael Ervin sees gas prices peaking at $1.48 and dropping by 5 to 10 cents per liter.
However, the carbon tax goes up by 2 cents per litre starting on July 1st.
Your thoughts on gas prices? Is it going up or down this summer?

Doubt it'll go down, I see the prices averaging at 1.40ish for a while. We might see prices drop by the fall around the US elections.

It's the high gas taxes that's inflating the prices at the pump. Ridiculous taxes!
Everytime I see my cousins from Venezuela they just laugh at the prices that I'm paying. They pay on average TWELVE cents per litre in the capital city of Caracas.
That is criminal! No wonder my cousins see so many people driving SUVs everywhere. Jeep Grand Cherokee, Hummers, Escalades, you name it. Many people there drive them.

Nah, my cousins can have their cheap gas at twelve cents per litre all they want. It's not worth it for all the violent crime, shootings, robberies, kidnappings and 25% inflation in that country.

how many more increases to the carbon tax are we going to have?
Fuck! That shit pisses me off. If I wanted a hippie dippy government intent on signing through life's pain and coming together in an organic drum circle while eating granola, I along with many other people would have voted green.

dont worry though, those schmucks are should get a price hike on services for them, just because we know they are ceo's of translink or w/e, just to let them have a taste of their own medicine. BS. all BS.
I was just browsing street view on Google maps, and caught a picture of a gas station. 104.9 back in 2009. How far we've gone.
I remember when I was a kid and my parents would fill up at around $0.30/liter. This is back around 1994.

LOL, I passed the first station you're referring to today for just about the same reasons. It didn't look trustworthy. I went into the Chevron. 122.9 vs 119 something at the offbrand gas station.

Texaco - it's the same gas as Chevron, but about 3 cents cheaper/litre.

Drive a shittier car that sips gas?
Maybe not for you in particular, but as long as nobody's willing to switch to some other alternative, gas companies can just charge what they want cuz ppl will buy no matter what.

I think it was around 1998 when Arco tried to muscle in to Vancouver and caused a gas price war, and it went down to about 39¢/L.

Without going into to much detail, my work requires me to drive. Although my family is looking to replace my sister's car with something more economical, but we have yet to find one we can all agree on. If only the new 2012 civic drove like my dad's old 93 civic, would be on that shit so fast.
