Heads Up, mods please move this thread to VOT if necessary
My buddy's car got broken into in North Burnaby sometime between last night. It all came from a 2011 STi Sedan.
Just a heads up for some parts that are rare-ish
2x RECARO JDM SPGs in blue with Recaro leather side bolster protectors
Set of 4x defiBF gauges in amber (red) with defi-link2
2x Bride FO rails for GR STi
Sony Z-Series laptop (don't know the model, will update later with it)
Maui Jim perscription sunglasses
Kershaw Blurr Serraded Knife
If anyone finds these items for sale, please call the police (will update the thread with police file # later)
Thanks
Ouch, he left a laptop in his car? Was it in plain view or was in the trunk with the trunk release locked? How long did he leave it unattended for and where was it parked?

close to home
I bet it's the same gang that break into houses here (if it is, look out for a group, 3 or 4, of middle eastern teenagers in their 20-30s)
will keep a eye out

Why does your buddy need to be driving about with a knife in his car?

I know a lot of people carry knives in their cars and in pockets in case anything happens. It's better to be overprepared than underprepared. Used to work at House of Knives and customers always show me knives they carry on themselves :)

I'd prefer if people carried mace or pepper spray. Non lethal yet just as effective. I was stabbed once when I was in middle school by a mugger and I've been against them ever since.

Sorry to hear man. :okay: But yea usually my customers use it for defence more than offence. Sometimes if you put it in your car and stuff then it should be more useful when you need it.

The car was parked in his underground. The laptop was in the trunk of the car. He lives in the brentwood area. He carries a knife in the car for random things like opening boxes or cutting tape and what not.

Laptop is a Sony ZL1, previous generation with black vinyl on the top with the chinese letters "balance" or (yin and yang). It has a pink finder's tag on the bottom of the laptop.

Problem is, 99% of people out there don't know how to use a knife properly to defend themselves.

God damn... I hope this they can find this thief and recover the stolen goods...
Underground parking and still broken into :( That terrifies me

just keep eyes on criagslist.:suspicious: stealing people stuff with their own hard cash...THERE is always KARMA when you steal. it doesn't happen now but overtime it will.....
who said anything about using a knife as a defense mechanism? i carry a knife in my car, it's one of the most useful tools you can have. you can cut, use it as a prying tool, use it as a makeshift screwdriver, the list goes on and on
to OP: i feel bad for your friend. the thieves actually had the time to unbolt both his bucket seats AND rails?
sorta sounds targeted..

fuck man, your buddy got a lof of valuable stuff jacked
I'm a craiglist junkie, so I will look around...
For self defense talk, I carry a golf iron in my car. I prefer the long-range and I would not hesistate to use it where as a knife, it takes quite a bit to shove it inside someone.

Fuck that's horrible... Sorry to hear. Must've taken a bit of time to rip all of that out of the car though...

Customers of House of Knives aren't exactly a random sample of the population. I have never carried a knife on me for "self-defense." I've never been in a situation where I thought a knife would help me.

If you carry a useless but "cool" looking knife that is worth a couple of hundred dollars, you are going to look forward to the day you have a chance of brandishing it. Like during a road rage incident.
If you are carrying a knife around, I already doubt you have high levels of emotional maturity.

I had my car broken into about a week and a half ago as well. Was near the Holdom skytrain area. Parked my car and wasn't gone 15 minute before I came back out of the house and shit was taken.
F***ing thieves. Piss me off so much!

Why do you care so much about people who carry knives?
You currently live in the eastern part of the US,you should be more concerned about people who carry guns.
Btw,you should see the knife I carry on a daily basis.

did your friend have an alarm on his sti? Seems like It would take awhile to take all of the those things.

Damn where were you parked? I live basically at Holdom and Broadway so this worries me. Were you parked behind Revs (the right just past the Ford heading south on Holdom?)?

It was on Springer Ave by Lougheed. Pretty much at the opposite end of where the houses are (right beneath all those trees).

Having a car like that where so many parts are desirable by thieves and NOT having a two-way paging security system seems insane to me.

Its also insane that thieves break into underground parking for his home, and have the audacity to steal everything while none of the tenants care while the alarm is going off.

What is the range on a 2 way paging alarm system?
