Smoothie Season
Hey guys! It's summertime just around the corner! I've been noticing on IG/fb, etc. that smoothies are becoming more and more popular. I'm a bit of a smoothie noob, and find myself partial to green/veggie smoothies. I'd really appreciate it if you guys could share some of your recipes and mixes that you may use for smoothies. The more creative, the better!
I bought some boxes of Almond Breeze (original, vanilla & chocolate)
flaxseed
apple juice
Swiss Chard
Granny Smith apples
Celery
Spinach
Organic bananas
and Carrots!
... i've been using different variations of these veggies/fruits for the past few days.
What do you guys use? :)

For me, seems like simple and fresh turns out best in how it tastes and the satisfaction after eating/drinking it.
Also, I was originally skeptical about the Magic Bullet, but now it's super, super handy for smoothies.

Same here, when it first came out I thought it was some cheap as-seen-on-tv junk.
I came across a whole deluxe set that was on sale at Costco for $35, so I figured what the hell, I'll try it out. Turns out that was one of the best purchases I ever made. I use this thing 2-3 times a day. It's been over 3 years and I haven't had a single problem with it.

Cookies and cream protein powder with frozen mangoes, Greek yogurt, and milk isn't too bad of a combination.

How much do you put of each? 1 cup frozen berries + 1 cup OJ + 1 cup yogurt?
For a single serving

I used to have a Magic Bullet and it was good for single serving portions but it was a plastic contraption and it didn't take too long before it got mangled.
I make them in my full size blender now but unfortunately it just doesn't really work well to do single servings, I basically make 2 to get it to work properly.
To make 2 servings, I use around 1 cup of frozen berries, 1 banana, 2 tbsp yogourt, orange juice to fill it to the top of everything in the blender.

^Yeah, the only thing I don't like about the Bullet is the cheap plastic it uses. Even though mine hasn't had a problem in over 3 years, I still wish there was glass, or at least better feeling plastic.
My friend has something from CuisineArt (sp?) that's similar to the Magic Bullet, and actually feels like it's quality made, with glass cups and all.
The only thing is that it's multiple-button operated.. which isn't that big a deal.
But the Magic Bullet is just press down and go. Also if needed, extra cups, replacement blades, lids, etc are more readily available.

Iunno about you... But i eat a lot... so for breakfast i eat maybe 2 or 3 serving of smoothie... And for measurements... I just eyeball it, if it's too thick, add more orange juice, if it's too thin, add more yogurt or frozen fruit... I just throw them into a yogurt container and blend it with a hand blender... (affordable and blade can come off to wash)
