So Mario Gutierrez won another insane race beating bodiemeister once again just like the Kentucky derby
Potentially the first horse since 1975 to win the triple crown with a jockey from Hastings
Turned $60 into $190 with a bodiemeister place and I'll have another win

I love horse racing.
Not so much for the gambling aspect, I just love the horses.
I prefer steeplechase to flat racing generally, but it's amazing watching Gutierrez run regardless since he's a local.

Bodemeister won't be running at the Belmont so it will be interesting to see what happens as I'll have another seems to like to run behind another horse towards the end, the Belmont is the longest race as well

I was at the track on Saturday, not because I'm personally into the horses, but my wife wanted to go. It was neat being there for Mario's win though.
Even though he has the shot at the Triple Crown, something like 11 or 12 other horses since 1975 have won the first two legs, but failed to win the third... so certainly don't bet the farm that Mario will pull it off.

As of now I'm going big on Dullahan with a small play on Paynter or Street Life.. although that can all change come Sat.
More than likely IHA will win due to this being one of the worst 3 y/o crops in a while. I really can't see anyone beating him, but there will be no value on him at all.

Looks like IHA won't run at Belmont.
I'll Have Another won't race for Triple Crown at Belmont: Trainer (http://www.theprovince.com/sports/Have+Another+race+Triple+Crown+Belmont+Owner/6751754/story.html)
Trainer Doug O’Neill told the Dan Patrick Show Friday that the horse ridden by Vancouver jockey Gutierrez is out of the race with tenderness in his right foreleg, and won’t be racing in the Belmont Stakes Saturday.
:(
So close.

$6 million is a really low estimate for the stud value of a TC contender, it's also not a great consolation prize.
The stud fee for a TC contender averages $100,000-$150,000, bred 30-40 times a year, over say 25 years of fertility, $75,000,000 in total not taking into account declining value. The stud fee for a TC winner could hit $500,000 if he's proven to produce high quality foals. Secretariats stud fees total around $114,000,000 even though he died young (19), and had a streak of unsuccessful foals that hurt the value of his sperm (Canadian Bound (Secretariat x Charming Alibi) sold for $1,500,000 and was a worthless failure).
