Anyone pumped out this movie?

Im excited that the Lizard is the bad guy..

The 4 minute trailer from last night is pretty good.. though the CG looks a bit over the top/obvious.

they should stop calling it a reboot. its more like a new episode every couple years. kinda like a tv series except its big budget and its on the big screen.

-will be an interesting movie to watch. -will get a better understanding of Spiderman in his teen years.

-good choice in Emma Stone to play Peter Parker's girlfriend.

It's pretty cool. However, I wish they made the lizard have a snout rather than making it look like the old school lizard from the comics. But, it should be a pretty good movie.

I think the way he was talking was in reference to the whole "wimpy kid gaining power" thing. I'm sure if this were real, anyone would start getting cocky with the way they started acting, especially behind a mask.

Too many long video clips of the movie. It's to build the hype but I bet when you watch the actual movie, you will think you have already seen more than half of it already by just viewing all the trailers.

Same thing happened with Avengers.

yeah the CG was just terrible... cocky is cocky. if you're a nerd at the beginning, getting super powers ain't going to make you sound like a jock all of a sudden. the bridge scene is just... damnnn i'm really going to pass on this one.

But damn... watching these clips, doesn't seem like a darker remake.
Seems just as tacky and corny as the first one. Maybe Spider-man is incapable of being portrayed in a dark and serious way???

Save your money and watch the 25 minutes main plot from the the movie.

"With The Amazing Spider-Man opening next week on July 3rd, you may feel like you’ve seen the entire movie through the recent marketing barrage. Well, you have seen about twenty-five minutes of it, because someone’s gone through the trouble of editing all the footage together into a mini-film for your viewing pleasure. Add to it a new clip, TV spot and featurette and you can watch nearly a third of The Amazing Spider-Man without paying a dime."

I'll repost my comment from Facebook why I liked this movie so much

(someone asked if Lizard was any good, since Lizard isn't exactly a famous villain)

To me, the Lizard storyline is the original storyline, so I liked it. The Lizard CG was kind of lame, but actually most of the rest of the CG was pretty good. Unlike the original Spiderman movies, he didn't look like a goofy cartoon when he was flying around the city.

This was one of the more 'human' comic movies, and casting Martin Sheen and Sally Field as the Parkers really held everything together. When the story took place (and we all know what happens) there was still an emotional impact. We know WHY Peter decided to become Spiderman, and the first movie (and comic) didn't portray this as well as this movie did.

Also, another thing I liked was that unlike Avengers, it wasn't "turned up to 11" all the time. Avengers was just one stunt scene after another. Yes they were pretty awesome scenes, but after a while it got a bit fatiguing. With Spiderman, you go to enjoy the story as well as the action. The only problem I had with it was the story is just so familiar, if you have read the original comic and watched the first movie.

Sorry but your Peter Parker is wrong.

Peter Parker is a skinny, ugly geek. Andrey Garfield is a skinny, ugly geek. Absolutely perfect casting.

The smart ass cocky "I got picked on all my life and now it's my turn" is what Spiderman was all about. And that's what this Spiderman is all about.

Thought the movie was pretty good. I'd give 8/10 on it. Didn't like a few things about it though, see the spoiler.

The fight scenes are way better than the Tobey's 3 movies.

I know its a reboot but some things that bothered me about this movie was.
1) They didn't get Spiderman to actually compete in wrestling, they did pay tribute to wrestling, but I was expecting him to wrestle in a match like the first movie.

2) "with great power comes great responsibility" - Uncle briefly talked about being responsible, but never in this movie did the mention the actual quote. This quote is what Spiderman lives by and it wasn't even mentioned.

Thought the fight with the Lizard at the highschool was awesome, especially the part where Spiderman just jumps around and wrapping the Lizard up in a web.

Btw, any guesses on who will be the villain for sequel? Heard they might bring in Green Goblin or Mysterio.

I actually really enjoyed this film!

Loved the arrogant, wise-cracking Spidey that they had going on during his fights. That's how Peter Parker was supposed to be in the comics!

Thought the acting was pretty superb as well. Definitely enjoyed it better than Tobey Maguire and Kristen Dunst's performances.

It was a lot more emotionally engaging than the original Sam Raimi trilogy. Gotta agree with SkinnyPupp, Martin Sheen and Sally Field were great as the Parkers!

In regards to your spoilered bit, they're trying to distinguish this movie from the original. Follow the comic books too closely and you're also making it too similar to the original.

The 90's era was filled with unrealistically buff characters. Every superhero had a 6 pack or higher.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/6b/Magslee.PNG/250px-Magslee.PNG

Look at Magneto. His arm is almost as big as his head!

I agree that spiderman is supposed to be skinny. Remember, reason why Spider-man was so popular is he is an average, every day joe with with average every day problems. More than that he was a KID superhero, who at the time were always side-kicks to the real stars. For socially-awkward kids growing up, it doesn't get more relatable than that.

I haven't seen this movie yet but I'll try to go into it with the old spiderman movies out of my head as much as possible.

Watched this the other day and I agree that it's 100x better than Tobey Macguire/Kirsten Dunst. I honestly hate that trilogy with the first movie being somewhat acceptable.

I don't know about anyone else, but it bugged the shit out of me that the web came straight out of Toby's wrists rather than being a cartridge as it should be and was in the comics/animated series. There were many situations where Spidey simply ran out of webs.

Some people would argue that it's more realistic that Spidey could make webs with his wrists.. uh NO. If he had webs coming from his body in a realistic manner, it'd be coming out of his ass.

Anyways, the acting and the story in this reboot were MUCH better and Emma Stone is a hotty :D

I highly recommend watching this movie

There was a recent (2004-2005) publication of Avengers: Disassembled where Spider-Man turns into a spider, and upon recovery, can shoot organic webbing instead of using the web shooters. Granted, this was after the movies were made.

Either way, glad to hear this one is keeping closer to the comics. I'm not huge into comics, but I've always been a fan of superheroes.

Guess I'm the only one who liked Raimi's Spiderman more. It was like Garfield was trying too hard to be angsty and emotional in the origin. I liked the light hearted moments of Raimi's which only Tobey McGuire could do well. The relationship trio of Peter, Harry, and Mary-jane made things more interesting, and the Peter, Uncle Ben, and Aunt May relationship was more heart felt in Raimi's, especially Peter and Aunt May. There's also the lack of J. Jonah Jameson, probably a role that noone other than J.K Simmons can fill.

I'm just comparing the two first installments, ignore the 2nd and 3rd.

The scene with Peter and Ben talking in the car, then Ben dying and holding hands through the death, and the subsequent rage man hunt & thief realization hits way harder than the this movie's equivalent imo. In Raimi's, you have Peter telling Aunt May how much he misses Ben, and Peter visiting Aunt May in the hospital, etc. which makes them seem much closer as a family. The secret of Peter's parents, and Uncle Ben and Aunt May seemingly not wanting to talk about it makes them seem disconnected as a family

SkinnyPupp

Sorry bump old thread. I'm very late but I just watched it.

Emotional connection + death scene in Raimi's Spiderman was better. I remember tearing up a bit when Uncle Ben died.

Like some others mentioned, I felt the Parkers as a closer family than Amazing Spiderman.

Peter leans on Aunt May's support a lot but he was quite distant from her in this one.

Also he didn't handle the death of his uncle as much as I thought he would.

I'm guessing they really wanted to keep it different than the first one.

I gotta say I like Garfield as Spiderman more and the action scenes and wide angle web slinging was way better than the Raimi's!

Oh and how could they cut out the most famous line in Marvel history from the movie! I thought they'd have him say it at the end during the voicemail scene.
