MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- A pizza delivery man was left brain dead after being robbed and attacked while delivering food in Moreno Valley.

Investigators said the Pizza Hut delivery man, 36-year-old Patrick Kasper, went to a house in the 22800 block of Adrienne Avenue carrying $90 worth of food around 9 p.m. Thursday.

The delivery man told deputies he was ambushed after knocking on the door. Kasper told family members that two to three teenagers attacked him, punched him, knocked him out and stole the food. When deputies went to investigate, they discovered the house was vacant.

Kasper drove back to his Pizza Hut location, then went home. The next morning, his mother heard him in his bedroom struggling to breathe. He was rushed to the hospital, but doctors told the family he had suffered a severe aneurysm in his brain. Kasper was pronounced legally brain dead.
Kasper's family said he was on life support at Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley. The family said they decided to donate his organs. Kasper is the father of an 11-year-old girl.

However..... Yes they did rob the guy BUT they didn't beat him to death on the spot like a gang of savages. They knocked him out and because of that, an aneurysm developed and the guy suffered brain damage.

Don't get me wrong I feel horrible at the result and yes the robbers should be punished but some of your posts are pretty strong for a result that was far from the norm for a circumstance such as this. From what I read it seems he was 1 punch KO'd and then the kids took the pizza and booked. Bad judgement yes.... bad luck the guy died? Hell yes.

That's all a pretty big assumption at the moment about those who are responsible. What we do know is that these scumbags if caught can now be facing first or 2nd degree murder. It is a well-established legal doctrine (thin skull rule) that one is liable for any and all consequences that result from their actions that lead to injury to another. This includes injuries that were unforeseeable like an aneurysm leading to death in this case or even if the victim had a pre-existing vulnerability. The harm was intended and foreseeable to cause injury, yet the perpetrators acted recklessly by going through with it anyways.

I never said the kids didn't deserve to be punished. Manslaughter will be the charge and rightly so. For every action there is a reaction and in this case a consequence. What I WAS saying is to all you people saying "They deserve to die" or shit like that. It was an unfortunate circumstance. I guess if you live by the rules "An eye for an Eye" that will be ok but we all know that leaves the world blind.

Anyways I'm anxious to hear the final outcome and more of the story from the kids who did the crime. I hope they get caught and punished accordingly. Be it a first offense accident or a repeat violent offender.
