going to the game tonight and here's the policy from WhiteCaps.com:

Personal photography is permitted on Bell Pitch downtown provided the images are for personal use only, however any audio or video recording is in violation of Major League Soccer. Photographic support tools that may interfere with others' enjoyment of the match (tripods, professional lenses - larger than 200 mm, etc.) are not permitted in the stadium.

so, the bit in brackets where it says " professional lenses - larger than 200 mm " is a bit confusing to me. so a 70-200 L f/2.8 is ok? can i bring a longer than 200mm "non-professional" lens? wtf?

They don't want members of the audience to bring a large honkin lens like a 400mm 2.8 in the stadium especially in the crowd seats because a few people might get pissed off because a large lens and photographer is right in their field of view. Thats why most photographers are no where near the crowd their usually near the field where the action is. IMO if you really want a straight answer you should call them up and ask.

That's probably just a generic term they're using basically saying any lens longer than 200mm would be considered professional. I would say max 200mm. Or slap a 200mm sticker on your 400mm lol.
