A very sad day for all Rotary enthusiasts around the world. Today, after 40 years of production, the last 13B and Rotary Engine rolls out of the factory. Mazda is holding a ceremony on the 13B line today to commemorate the end of an era. Our thanks and appreciation to all of those engineers, craftsman, executives at Mazda who made the Rotary Engine of such a great joy to us for so many decades! Our hope is that Rotary Engine makes a swift come back and our joy is returned. NEVER STOP CHALLENGING MAZDA!

Hopefully they engineer a way to make it more.. efficient? Burns oil.. thirsty engine.. low power output..
Though as inefficient as these engines are, I personally love the sound of them :ahwow:

Not the end, there was a story about them discontinuing the rotary now just to have the money to develop a more reliable and efficient version.

They mentioned that they were going to experiment with the laser ignition system, and try to improve the notoriously leaky seals.

yah, there is a lot of buzz about the Skyactiv program. Mazda is going to built a LeMann prototype car under Skyactiv based technology too! let's hope they are successful at it, and can start to maybe run a rotary based prototype in the future. :)

There is nothing quite like the sound of a rotary mashing parts at 7000RPM(and others even more). I think its the fact that it doesn't even sound like its trying.

Glad they scrapped the 13b.. They should bring back the 20B Motor in a exotic type car ( Like the Furai)

The day i have the expendable income for a full out 20b swap it will be done :)
