^ This.
You're going to have to resort to 3rd party manufacturers for one. I'm fairly sure I've seen them around (no joke, check Winners)

Or just get a longer USB plug in cord. I know the one that comes with the PS3 is 6ft, just go buy a 10-12ft one. That's the closest thing to a 1st party wired
^ that wont work for evo
they won't allow controller syncing
you could use a ps2 controller with a usb adapter

Intec Turbo Shock III Controller (PlayStation 3) : PlayStation 3 Controllers - Future Shop (http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/intec-inc-intec-turbo-shock-iii-controller-playstation-3-g7784/10142126.aspx?path=09f2f86503a4e1ca2ab06c0db3d4573 den02)
But are you sure they won't lt you use the original PS3 controller?

are people honestly that worried about miliseconds of input lag? If so get a wired fight stick?

My bro plays on pad
They won't allow wireless because it might desync other players sticks due to the wireless system.

Allowed Controllers
Fight Sticks. To our knowledge, all fightsticks made by Hori, PDP, and MadCatz use a wired connection and do not pair themselves to the PlayStation. They are all allowed.
MadCatz Fightpads. MadCatz Fightpad use a bluetooth USB dongle to pair the pad to the dongle. Since they do not create a paring between the pad and the Playstation 3, they are allowed.
All PS2 Controllers used with a PS2/PS3 convertor. Dualshock 2 or other PS2 controllers used with a converter box to convert them to PS3 controllers are allowed. For players accustomed to using a PS3 controller, this is your best option. We have included links for a recommened convertor box and Dual Shock 2 controller for your convenience

Good luck to your bro.

I personally use etokki's converter for my PS2 joystick/controller. works flawlessly
iNPiN PS2 to PS3 Converter (http://etokki.com/iNPiN-PS2-to-PS3-Converter)
I used to have a Logitech controller for pc. It worked for the ps3, same key layout as ps3 and vibrates. I bought that from bestbuy.

Yeah a PS2 controller with an adapter is the closest you can get. But I think one of Sony's updates stopped a lot of them from working.
Saw a cheap ps3 controller at Walmart. Wired!
