windows not loading

windows 7 is not loading no my computer
its stuck at a black screen with a flashing dash
does anyone have any idea whats wrong with it?
help would be appreciated thanks all!

did you install something before this happened?

If you did, go into safemode and uninstall it.

He's not even booting, how could he get into safe mode?

To OP: go into bios and check if your drive is still connected, if so check your boot order or manually choose your boot source.

if hes not booting, it will ask for boot media...

MBR probably got messed up. Try repairing with your windows install disk.

are you trying to boot from cd or are you simply just trying to get into windows?

If trying to boot from cd go into bios and select your dvd drive as first in the boot order

if going into windows try to run safemode or try to use your windows cd to repair it.

Double check that your BIOS is choosing the right drive as the start-up medium.

If that seems correct, follow what !MiKrofT said. Boot off your Windows disc or USB drive, and either use the startup repair tool, or manually fix it with command prompt.
