Do you guys keep your photos in their native RAW format or convert and keep in DNG?

Anyone see any particular downside to DNG (other than buying into an Adobe-proprietary format)? Not that I use it, just curious...

I like to keep them RAW

I think quite a lot of people use Lightroom to do non-destructive editing. The original will be left as a raw.

i don't need to do any conversion to get it to DNG... my camera spits out raw files? (well.. CR2 which is the Canon raw)

The one good thing about converting your RAW files into DNG is the lack of the sidecar XMP file, as the metadata in incorporated into the DNG file. I don't bother, as it takes a long time to convert all my RAW files into DNG.

RAW, cause you can convert it to other formats later through Lightroom.

keep mine in raw.
That being said, unless you are shooting commercially and require to keep raw for clients, there's really no point in keeping raw after you've shot them. Chances are you'll never ever go back and re-edit/re-use the raw. Kind of a waste of space. Even for my shoots once i've given my clients the final retouched Tiffs, I never use the raws. Maybe 2% of the time i've ever needed to re-use the raws.
