best ayce sushi in vancouver
My buddies and I are looking for an AYCE sushi place in vancouver that serves the best quality food. It's been a long time since we ever did the japanese ayce and the last time we went the food was disappoint.
I know there are threads like these but the posts are old and we all know the quality in japanese AYCE goes south when given the test of time.
So any suggestions for the best ones in van as of now? The only AYCE places I know of are the ones in Richmond. I was thinking about Toyama but i noticed the quality went bad now (i heard they changed owners). The price of the AYCE is not an issue.
I would go to a non ayce sushi but at the rate my buddies and I devour food we would clean our wallets :)

It used to be shabusen.
It is now kyo. Underground parking is very very very limited and tight.
Both sushi and korean bbq was not bad. The plum tea pudding was delicious. Their service is great too.
Maybe it was just me but i thought their spicy tofu was the best I've ever had.

The old owner of Toyama moved into the old Broadway Fish on Rice location, now called Kaneda. The menu is pretty much exactly the same as Toyama and the Japanese chefs there are pretty good. Food is good, service is meh.

The word "Best" and "AYCE" in the same sentence? :fuckthatshit:
How's Kyo compared to Shabusen? Did it improve?

I should close this thread and ban anyone who actually thinks AYCE sushi is anywhere near being good. Can't be much of a connoisseur..... :p
I grudgingly went to that place above the Sony Store on Broadway (Tomokazu?) a few years ago, and it was somewhere between terrible and horrible.

^ lol and that is one of the better places.
When I used to be young and stupid, I would frequent AYCE. Now I look back in that period of my life with shame. :lol
Fish on Rice, Richmond Sushi, Robson Sushi, BC Sushi, etc etc. all terrible.

What does that have to do with AYCE? If you're talking about the Nasu Dengaku, grilled eggplant, yes I eat it all.

Hey, I think when your a teenager, AYCE sushi is hard to beat. Having said that, I haven't been to one in awhile. My buddies and I only go to reminisce of the old days and we all know that the food is terrible. It just reminds us of our younger days and perfectly represents our foolishness perfectly.
I think the worst part about AYCE, is not so much that the food sucks, but for an extra $10 -15 decent sushi could be had.
Simply put, there are just too many better options in Vancouver. I am in Ottawa right now and you guys don't know how good you have it to be settling for AYCE. Kind of makes me angry now LOL
Back in my day, Ebi on granville was the place for AYCE.

I think people go because you get selection and variety
It's fun too when you're young and can really stuff yourself with your buddies. That's probably what I like best about AYCE.
