I want the windows to be tinted, however I want them to look good as well, do you think it would look ugly if i went for a 5%. Or would it look better with a 10%. Other suggestions?

I am getting it done today so an opinion would be nice.

I have a 04 TSX.

TIA.

edit. BTW this is how the car looks sans tint

I think the percentage to not be cop-bait is 30%

5% and 10% is way too much lol

go with 35%, most common. and you can still get away with it

i have a white TL and have it at 15% and I think it's too dark imo. i would've preferred 25% or 30%

are you planning on doing front and rear? or just the rear? you may already know this, but tinting the front windows is illegal and will get you a ticket.

35% is close to factory spec for tinting. in fact, my EK has 35% tint as you can see in my photos. 5% is ridiculously black.. it makes it really hard to park and back up at night.

also, most tint shops will have samples of how dark different percentages are on their store windows.

going with 25%

I'm only getting the rears done, trying to keep the car as legal as possible.

Fwiw, I had 50% tints in front before and got caught twice. Once was even during night time. Front tints are not worth it.

for back all is pretty much legal haha but i think 25% would look great and not too dark that you can't see shit at night, good choice :concentrate:

Years ago I had 5% (limo tint) on the rear windows of my Civic. First night out driving, I was changing lanes, almost ran some poor guy off the road cause I didn't see shit. Took alot of getting used to. Never again, not worth it, stay away from 5%. 25 to 35% is a good range.

Lol.

Both my cars are black and both have 35% all around.

i think i went 35% rear, 50% front.

70% fronts to be safe and 20% rears, dark enough to not see what's inside the car during bright sunlight

i had 20% on my civic, night driving wasn't a problem. i guess if you were backing up somewhere, and there was no light whatsoever, you might have an issue. but i think for the most part, 20% is fine.

35% all around.
or
5% just the back. Had this on my civic hatch. After 2 days of driving, you get used to it real fast. Drove late nights for 5years and no issues.

I have 20% in the back, it's definitely livable when backing up/shoulder checking
5% is a nightmare because your eyes aren't really adjusted, I had it on my Z and really had to concentrate when parking

5% is one step away from painting it black.

All this hate on 5%.

I was in the same position as you a few months ago, but I ended up getting 5%, rears only.

It took me a few days to adjust from no tint to 5%, but after that it's fine. As long as you're not backing up in some parking lot full of cars and no light at all, it's not that bad.

It also depends on the colour of your car I think.

Btw, I had 20% on my previous cars, and the difference is not for the worse. I actually prefer 5%.

i got 25%

question: is bubbling normal until it dries, i got bubbles along the bottom edge of the rear window for about two inches up.

possibly but the tint place just told me to go back in a few days for them to get rid of any remaining bubbles or imperfections

when did your brother get his 5% tint?

He bought the car with the 5% tints already on it. (the rear windows) He has owned the car for over a year already and he drives at night.

EDIT: just for fun, I went out and got into his back seats to check. Its not that dark from inside... It is completely black from the outside though (cant see in AT ALL). obviously its not pitch black out at this hour, so I'll check again later. But so far its ok.

He keeps saying he sees fine lol! I'm starting to agree with him ;O

yes. the bubbles should disappear after a few days. word to the wise, don't use your rear windows (if they open - i forget if you've got a 2dr or 4dr) for a few days as well.

there's not a huge huge difference from the outside between 20% and 5%. of course, the difference it noticeable but realistically come night time in a dark area, things might be a bit iffy. i'd go with 20%. here's my wagon with that %.

It also is important to take into consideration how big the windows are and whether the glass has the UV filters on it. 5% was perfect on my lancer and 20% looked as if I had no tint in the sun.

yeah im being careful about the windows thing, i have to make sure the gf knows about it too so she doesn't open them by mistake.

hm ur bros car might not be 5% just sayin. i cant see shiet at night in my friends car who has 5% in the rear windows. I depend on the side mirrors a lot

Tint on side view mirrors? does it reduce the glare of stupid HID's with no projectors behind me?

I do don't have tint on my mirrors, but my rear view mirror has some sort of anti glare on it and yes it helps to lot when people behind me have hids.
