My keyboard randomly disconnects and won't go on until I disconnect the usb and reconnect.

Faulty keyboard or mobo?
I switched usb slots and issue still occurs.

Keyboard is like 8 years old btw

If your other USB slots are working fine , it could be the keyboard.
If you plug in other usb devices into the keyboard slot , would it disconnect ?

Find the usb controller your keyboard uses inside of Device Manager then right click > Properties > Power Management and make sure "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked.

Try the keyboard on another computer. If it still disconnects, you have your definitive answer.
