Hey Folks,
I gotta take the wifey out on our fifth year anniversary. I was wondering if any of you has recently tried a good or nice restaurant of late that you can recommend? Even ones that are tried, tested and true are good.
Thanks in advance!

I always take wifey to the keg, prolly not the nicest option, but never been disappointed.
I don't know what your budget is but when I have a special occasion and want to dine out, we always go to Blue Water Cafe in Yaletown, love their food there but it is pricey ...
Rodney's is a pretty fun place, it's not formal or anything if that's what you're looking for though.

Gothams steakhouse is nice. It is twice the price of the keg though.

Cactus Club English Bay - upstairs in the lounge if you want to be indoor, or patio if you want to be outdoor. Aim for a half hour or so before sunset.
Couple years ago, we did The Observatory on Grouse Mountain for my parents' 50th anniversary... that was pretty spectacular. It's something like $65/person, all-inclusive - appies, main course, dessert, and the tram ride. Not a bad deal.

Wow.
Considering the ride up and down costs $40, this isn't a bad deal.

Mistral on W Broadway is a nice French Restaurant that won't break the bank. Great service, intimate place, great food, and great prices.

Go to La Buca (La Buca (http://www.labuca.ca/))
Great fine dining food at reasonable prices.

Look past the big places and especially the chains, you are just an ass in the seat at those places to them. Small intimate locally owned offer the best food/atmosphere IMO and there is usually a lot more personality involved from the staff, which I think is nice. Whenever I take the girlfriend out for a big deal special occasion its usually to La Quercia. I think(and many people agree) that its the best restaurant in the city.

the seasons in the park is a really nice place
on sundays you can get like a 3 course meal for like 30+ -40 bucks. includes salad ribs and a dessert. try going late because the view of the city is amazing and they have a fountain there you and your wife can just talk at.

Hawksworth if there will be dirty sex afterwards. (Think Akon)
Blue Water Cafe if there will be sex afterwards.
La Buca/Pied A Terre/Boneta if making love is happening (Think Marvin Gaye or Al Green)
White Spot if there will be no sex afterwards.

Shit man. Was it worth it? Not being sassy, genuinely wondering. My boss was the sous chef there a long time ago.

It was really good!! Neither of us had to pay though, it was a sponsored dinner where we could 'order whatever we wanted.'
I would've been terribly dissapointed if I had to pay that much. I would recommend never to get anything sushi related at BW. Stick with the mains and the appies.
Mains were pretty good. Sablefish:

Ahh yes I forgot about Peartree. Highly recommended!
Small intimite setting, isn't ridiculously priced, awesome food, and best of yet it's not in downtown so it's not crowded and parking is free on E Hastings.

I like marcellos. Kinda has a more casual feel to it though. If you want romantic, not the place. But, if you want a good pizza, its one of the better places to go.

I don't think Marcello's is bad. But Famoso definitely better.
Pizza Farina on Main Street is also quite good.

Pizzarina Farina is not exactly a place for an anniversary.

I don't think any of these pizza places would count for an anniversary spot.
Apologies for the off topic.

Go to a pizza place if you do not want to receive any "action" from then on.
