Greasy Fatass in an RV Dumped Something on My Car
I'm fucking pissed. Took the day off to go to Kits Beach today (video timestamp is wrong). Did a surprising amount of coverage all over my front bumper, and half my hood.
Just discovered it now and need to clean it off, and I've gotta wake up at 6am for work tomorrow FUUUUUUUU.

why would someone do that? :fulloffuck:
xxxx, that's ridiculous. What is that? Coffee or something sticky liquid? Sorry to hear about that man. At lease, your dr380 caught everything. It is good that dr380 caught his license plate clearly.
I don't understand why people doing this kind of thing. My dash cam caught someone spit on my car last week. Fortunatly, dr400 caught the guy's license plate as well. I sent my clip to ICBC, and ICBC my detailing bill to the fucking driver because it is one kind of hit and run
Just call ICBC first, sending the video to ICBC to see what ICBC said. If ICBC will cover any damage, you just heading to a detailing place get your car 100% clean inside and out. Let the jackass pay the money. That's a lesson to this bitch.

I wouldn’t even touch it if I were you.
I would report it to ICBC, let them know you have video and the license plate of someone vandalizing your vehicle by purposely tossing an unknown substance all over it. Tell them you are scared to touch it as you don’t know if the substance is toxic or harmful, and you would like to see an adjuster so the cleaning and repair (if any paint is damaged) can be covered.
I’d be really interested to hear what they say. They may shrug you off, but they may actually do something about it. If they don’t, maybe contact the cops and let them know you have video of someone vandalizing your vehicle and a license plate, see if they will do anything.
Your probably SOL, but worth the effort to try and get the guy in shit for something so ridiculous. People like this need a punch in the head, don’t let him get away with it!

Sorry for the late update guys, busy at work.
As promised, here's the pics of the damage done.
To answer a few questions:
1. I don't suspect asr for this. :ilied:
2. I did not park illegally, it's just no parking from 12am - 6am there.
3. I did not see the guy at all, and have videos from when I arrived til when he left. He actually GTFO'd when he saw me walking back to the car.
4. Unfortunately (fortunately?), I washed my car this morning and removed all trace. Was too tired last night and fell asleep before washing it. Woke up at 5:15am to wash the car before work. :okay:
5. A police report and ICBC report will be filed after I get home from work today.
6. Shameless plug for asr: Get your dashcam today! Don't delay!
Will keep you updated on the police and ICBC report

The damage occurs if there's a paint chip that's through the e-coat. Coffee is corrosive and will attack metal.
It seems that is coffee on your paint.Just need confirm from you.
Googled. I hope that helpful.
100% sure coffee is acidic.
You should wash it off as soon as possible because it will dry to a sticky mess that will be a pain to get off, but it probably won't harm the paint. I would guess it will, however, eat through any wax and you should therefore re-wax the area.
Let's see Icbc will give you a free detailing and wax sealant or not.
Damn shame that happened to your car but this is a great advert for ASR, now I'm thinking about getting one of those
Definitely get the cops and ICBC reports in there and nail this guy ...

Keep us posted. I’m really interested in what both ICBC and the Cops say.
I have a feeling they will play it off, especially the police. As for ICBC, don’t let them off the hook. You have the plate number, and video of the guy damaging your car. You pay insurance for a reason. Demand that something be done about the damage to your paint and clear coat. Your car has been vandalized, you pay insurance, and (I assume anyway) have coverage against vandalism. That’s your agreement with ICBC, make them live up to it.
Too many people let too many things slide, which is why assholes like this think they can get away with this kind of shit, and usually do.
Simple rule of life, if it’s not yours, don’t touch it. Why don’t people understand that?
KO7, I sent this video to CBC television. I hope they can help you to work this out.
Thanks asr, I doubt CBC would take an interest in this at this moment though. Going to wait and see what ICBC and the police say. Will file with them both when I'm off work.

Honestly, I won't know what ICBC will do for you. At most a detailing job? Unless that stuff is corrosive and is eating through your paint. Then it will be consider vandalism.
^I don't know what liquid is that. But it looks like coffee.
Coffee is 100% corrosive and acid. I just googled.

Honestly please define corrosive.. I feel it is an attempt for you to get more exposure for your product. Any basic / acidic fluid would be corrosive depending on the material that the liquid contact with.
The OP has evidence, now he needs to prove that there is permanent damage to his car. Get an appointment to the inspection center ASAP.

I'm not able to capture the clearcoat damage on camera, but it's obvious to my coworker and I that the damage has definitely been done. I'll need to have the adjuster confirm the damage in person. Even IF it's very minimal damage, why should I have to live with that? It wasn't there before that ahole vandalized my car, so it should be fixed at his expense.

I had a guy in a broken down RV camp out on my block for a week, had the call the cops and they said they had dealt with the person before. I assume this might be the case with this guy, probably goes park to park and camps out and someones probably made a complaint.
Glad the cops came down and took a report now you have to make sure something is done about it because sometimes the cops will go talk to the person and it ends there without any charges. Good luck anyways.

^ I went to spanish banks a few weeks ago, saw that same RV parked sideways, taking up 3 spots on a busy saturday afternoon. There was a car parked in front of him, so he let his back end stick into another spot by a few inches, I guess to give himself room to back out. It was so busy, there were no parking spots anywhere, so I parked directly beside him(in a legitimate spot), (in his backing out spot :p). When I came back a few hours later he was sitting there waiting for me, and quite angry because he couldnt leave until I moved my car. I politely advised him that next time he should try to take up less parking spots ;)

Well doing something like that to someone's car a person should expect a possiblity of that happening. Thats about it. I understand both actions aren't right by any means. I guess lets just leave it at that.

I politely advised him that next time he should try to take up less parking spots ;)
and if he smashed your car and left ?

How do you figure?? Thats the problem why too many people get away w/ fucking around w/ people. Cause too many people do nothing about it.. and just take it dry. Of course it would be foolish to use violence but i would have a hard time not doing something to the guy if i had the chance, and if it were me.
Not doing anything? Calling ICBC get the best possible detail/repair and make him pay for the damages is not doing anything?
If you went up and punched him in the mouth im fairly certain you wont just be quickly walking off.

If by balls you mean the raisins between his legs.
He would get caught rightaway,he already made the mistake of boasting what he would do on a public forum where cops lurk and participate on,so it would not be too hard to trace the assault back to him.He also seems like the type of person who would brag about it on FB and also dumb enough to film the assualt too.

IMO theirs nothing else you can do about it other than punch him or something, cause that teaches a person to not fuck around again or to think twice at least.
Lol, I had that mentality too once. Then, oddly enough, I talked to this crazy guy who gave me one of the best advice I've ever had. "Don't be one of those guys who lays in a prison cell on his back at night thinking about the dumb thing you did over and over again to find yourself in that place".

1) A simple vandalism event like this is low down on the RCMP's priority list
2) It often takes a long time to track down people, especially if they're living out of their vehicle

The estimator has approved the claim, as he agreed that there's clearcoat damage on the hood. I will be getting my hood repainted! :fullofwin:
Now that ICBC has agreed that there was damage done, hopefully the police can charge GFAinRV for the crime. I have emailed the two constables assigned to my case and given them an update on the claim and CC'd my adjuster in the email.
Only when and if he's charged for the crime will I be compensated for my $300 deductible. Will keep you guys updated as always, regarding being compensated.

I much rather see fatass get his ass kicked.
The police constables got back to me today via email. In short, they will not be pressing charges because "they can't prove that the COFFEE caused the damage" (who says it's coffee? Fatass did? That's nice.) He also mentioned that "all he has to do is say he didn't intend to splash my car with the coffee"... wtf?
However he mentioned there's some hope yet! He says we can try and see if he'll agree to pay for the damages voluntarily! Wow, that's great!

Isn't only the part where the coffee splashed on had the clear coat damaged? Wouldn't this be pretty conclusive evidence in that the coffee damaged the paint? He may not need to be criminally charged, but he still damaged your property. Wtf is this BS.
So technically if I Accidently puke on someone's car, it's okay? They cannot "prove" my puke damaged the car, nor did I do it on "purpose". At least the property owner deserves compensation.

Can coffee really damage the clear coat?
The Problem: Coffee and sodas contain acids that can etch your clearcoat.
The Solution: Wash it off immediately
Driving off with your coffee cup or soda bottle on your roof isn't just a day-ruiner, it can ruin your paint. Many beverages are acidic, and since any acid can hurt your car's finish, you'll want to get it washed off as soon as you can. Letting it sit will only give it more time to do damage, and letting it dry will only make it harder to get off later. If it's a soda, or if you take a lot of sugar in your coffee, then you're going to be dealing with a sticky residue in addition to corrosive chemicals. If you can't hit a car wash, then break out your bottle of quick detailer and your microfiber cloth and wipe it up.
Source: 9 Ways to Ruin Your Paint Without Knowing It - Car Maintenance and Car Repairs - DriverSide (http://www.driverside.com/auto-library/9_ways_to_ruin_your_paint_without_knowing_it-800)

This is a brutal situation. Even with the dashcam, the system can't really help you.
I'm assuming the cops would charge him with mischief. In order to be charged with that, there has to be proof beyond a reasonable doubt that he purposely threw the coffee on your car with the intention of damaging it. Because this will be hard to prove in court, the cops are saying there's no point in recommending charges because the Crown won't proceed with a case unless there's a very good chance of him being found guilty (like in all criminal cases).
You will have better odds in small claims court where judgement is based simply on probability. Given the video footage and ICBC evidence, it should be slam dunk. Sue him for the cost of your deductible at the very least.

Thats complete bullshit! I was in the same situation 3 weeks ago while i was trying to parallel park, a bmw owner wouldnt let me. so he honks and keeps coming closer so i just sat there in reverse. he could have went around me as there were no cars coming but decided tail me instead. 30 seconds later, he finally goes around me and throws a slurpee cup with slurpee onto my hardtop and drives away. i chased after him and ive done some things ive shouldnt have done that led us into a fight. Cops came and said theres no visble damage so they cant do anything, however maybe a "littering fine"? anyways even if i did have a dashcam or wittnesses, police said the outcome would still be the same and the MOST they can do is call them and give them shit.. pisses me off how the system works..
your situation is way worse than mine, where this is actual damage to the paint. i really believe this falls in to the catagory vandalism and the fucker should be charged or atleast fined. i bet if we went to the police station and poured "coffee" on their personal cars and theyve caught it all on tape, they wouldnt let us off that easily.. isnt there solid proof that the "coffee" DID damage the paint? A video, pictures of it on the hood, and icbc saying its damaged at the SAME spot where the "coffee" was?? count me in for tipping over the motor home.

The RV guy could say that it was an accident, and, as far as I know, be let off without any charges. It would be harder to convince the cops that you accidentally stole something.. It's a stupid system, but that's how I understand it.
What I don't understand is what circumstances leave 'accidents' unpunished. If I accidentally hit another car, I'm still liable. If I accidentally kill someone, still liable. Where is the line?

don't see how they can rule that as an accident. we clearly see that he just looked around, made sure nobody was looking, and instead of dumping it to the wide where it was sidewalk/grass, he dumped it at your car.
What a frustrating waste of time this has been. WTF was the point of contacting the police first to get a case number before filing an ICBC claim, if the police won't even pursue charges EVEN AFTER icbc confirms that there's damage and approves the claim?!
What was the point of the officers telling me to "see what ICBC says first and then get in contact with us again"?!
Why the hell did they even try contacting Fatass if all he had to do was "be uncooperative" (officer's words) and they stop the case right there?!!!?

Media ain't gonna care about this. They want stories that relate to as many of their audience as possible. This is more or a less a one-on-one private matter that has no real ramifications for the general public. I guess at best, the story would be about police not going after someone for petty vandalism, but that's not going to capture the interest of most viewers.
Whatever the case, pretty crappy situation. Realistically, some vigilante justice is required here. Probably best to make it such that only the greasy fatass suffers the consequences, and not the general public in the way of ICBC claims.
Tipping his RV over might cause him to pay a deductible, but then thousands of more dollars will be paid out by ICBC, which is not ideal.
However, if a rock happened to break his windshield by accident, he would likely have to pay for the replacement himself since the deductible would be almost as much as the cost. And after it was fixed, if another rock happened to break his windshield again by accident, he would have to pay it out... again.
Just saying.

It takes time away from pulling over modified cars on the highway?
Sorry to hear nothing has been done yet :(

what i've heard and seen = They won't deal with small claims nor chase down these arrogant people and put them behind the bars.
Instead, they pay way more attention to those "street racers" who tends to go little over 50km/h limit 3am in the morning when there's no one around with perfectly 'okay' environment that's not supposed to me limited only at 50km/h (yeah, obviously its not SAFE someone may say. :flamesuiton:) on a good stretched road.

Sorry for what happened and thanks.

This situation is more or less something that you could pursue legally. If the purpose of justice is to make you whole again and what evidence you have is legitimate and unquestionable, then legal action would be the most likely route to be successful. And if your video evidence is not good enough to hold up and point a definite finger at your accused, well then similarly the police wouldn't have any way of pursuing the case.
With efficient investigative/discovery skills by you and/or your lawyer, you should be able to track down the owner of the vehicle and match him up with the person who threw the liquid shit on your car.

It'll take a lot of work for very little gain.
IANAL, but it looks like there's some significant costs associated with persuing small claims:
Small Claims Rules (http://www.bclaws.ca/EPLibraries/bclaws_new/document/ID/freeside/261_93_05b)
And all that he would be able to get back is the deductible he paid ICBC, I would assume.

I believe he would be entitled to the court costs as well if he won. Its doesn't benefit him as the money goes to lawyers/fees etc. but its nice to know you fucked someone out of a bit more money when they are that malicious. This is a really fucked up scenario. Its like "hey, theres proof here that you through that rock through a windshield." Oh I didn't mean to hit the car, I was just trying to throw it over the car. "Oh, ok. Sorry for interrupting you in your R.V. parked illegally in a park sir. Have a good day."

Like I said. A small claims case would be a slam dunk. They won't care about proving intent. And yes he'd get his court fees back. You don't need a lawyer for small claims, it's designed to work without lawyers. The only problem he may face afterwards is even with a judgement against the other guy, he stilll might never pay up.
Criminal charges are much harder in this case. There needs to be proof beyond a reasonable doubt he intended to cause damage to the car. First the police have to agree. Then Crown has to agree. Only then will they charge him. The video footage doesn't establish intent, unfortunately.

+1 except it doesn't matter if he intends to pay or not. If their is a failure to pay, you can just garnish his wages...That is of course if he has any.
