First off; a man in China has built a pile of scrap metal that has a very vague similarity to a Lamborghini, nothing more.

Second off; I would rather spend $9500 on a Civic; I would then have something that's actually road legal, and could not be mistaken for a pile of scrap metal.

Third off; kit cars, with very few exceptions, are foolishly conceived and created contraptions. To quote Enzo Ferrari, “I don't sell cars; I sell engines. The cars I throw in for free since something has to hold the engines in;” a replica of a Ferrari or Lamborghini, regardless of what it's powered by or how similar in appearance the body may be to the original, will never replicate the part of the original that matters most.

$9500 for that, huh? I'd rather buy an ok car for $9490 and then buy a 1:10 Scale model of the lambo for $10. :)

He basically spent $10,000 to make the replica of the steel exterior frame. He has no idea what goes on in the factory to create the Lamborghini.

If you have an hour, here's the Mega Factory documentary from National Geographic.

Gotta ask yourselves, what's the purpose of this news article? It's pointless.

i thought the purpose of the article was to show off some cool DIY projects that cost a lot of $ but still cool to look at. obviously they're not going to pass off as the original but to me it's a pretty neat to see what these guys accomplished.

I think it's mostly the thread title/headline that generates the hate.

The man did not build a Lamborghini or anything close to it for less than $10k. The guy built a brutal caricature of a Lamborghini for less than $10k.

Such an accurate depiction of Jesus. The resemblance is uncanny.
