Debating between

Acer V5 14" 3rd Gen Intel Core i5-3317U Laptop (V5-471-6489) - Silver : 14" Laptops - Future Shop (http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/acer-acer-v5-14-3rd-gen-intel-core-i5-3317u-laptop-v5-471-6489-silver-v5-471-6489/10206029.aspx?path=47800825a28c63f73cadfa3e9754f80 1en02)

or

Samsung NP530U4B-A01CA Intel Core i5 2467M 4GB 500GB 14in DVDRW WLAN BT Win7 HP Notebook Ultrabook - Samsung - NP530U4B-A01CA (http://ncix.com/products/?sku=72734&vpn=NP530U4B-A01CA&manufacture=Samsung&promoid=1219)

OR possible other solutions in that price range?

Barely any difference in size. but the samsung's advertising of "fast booting, fast browsing" etc is attractive :alone: but then 150 dollar difference...

Acer gets 8gb ram... samsung gets 4..

samsung gots better battery life

advice?

wonder would they qualify for a windows 8 update.. or discount on windows 8..

wait for one with a SSD and full hd screen.... 1366 x 768 feels too small, scroll too much...coming from a desktop ><

I had bad experiences with Acer quality in the past, so I'd get a samsung if I had to choose...

advice would be wait for a good deal from Lenovo or even Dell... redflagdeals.ca always has some good options/threads on laptops might want to browse that more frequent.

Samsung for build quality. What kinda stuff will you be doing that requires 8gb?

I'd go for the Samsung, 8gb isnt really necessary unless your planning to do hardcore stuff, 4gb is good enuff + looks sexier than acer

I'd definitely get Ivy Bridge (Acer) over Sandy Bridge, all else being equal (which I have no idea if it is or not, compare the hardware yourself)
