I wasn't a fan of the controller when I played with it at pax, the screen wasn't the highest quality and the lack of multi-touch kinda bugged me. It was cool playing bits of the game on the gamepad though.

Considering it's basically 'current gen' it is pretty bad. And that $300 doesn't get you the pack-in game. That's the biggest mistake I think. 90% of the Wii's success was due to the pack in game. How many people even played more than that? Maybe some bought Sports Resort and Wii Fit, but that's about it.

We'll see how Nintendo climbs out of their stale gaming situation. I think they've done a fine job with changing the way games are played and re-introduced video games as "family entertainment.

Nintendo hasn't been doing too well over the past year or so. The 3DS has failed to find any of the success that the DS had (at least on this side of the pacific).

I only bought my Wii a couple years ago when new super mario came out. I got many hours of gaming out of it with various games, and definately think I got my money's worth. I don't play it much because I finished all the games I own. Sure Wii-sports gets boring, but so does any game after a while. It's not like I play guitar hero on my PS2 anymore either.
The big thing is that my wife likes all the Nintendo platformers, which you can't get on a PS3 or XBox, and I wanted a system we would both play.

I don't want a Wii U, but I know I'll get one eventually. Why? Because Nintendo has been a part of me ever since I was 5 years old, and barring handhelds, or the cube, I've owned every majore console they release. Even if I don't play it after 2 weeks (re: wii).

What would be awesome is the possibilities they can do with the remote. Maybe make it wifi compatible so you could use it as a tablet? Or, if they put good speakers to it, and imagine you could turn it into an mp3 player/ media center so that you could watch movies, listen to audio, etc.

The shitty thing about Nintendo is that I only like the few games that they make. I have been playing Mario Galaxy 2 lately and it's probably the most fun I've had playing a game in quite awhile. But other than that and maybe various other Mario games/Zelda I probably wouldn't play anything else which makes it hard to want a Wii U

It isn't going to replicate its success of Wii because the economy looks very different from now then it was in 2006-2008..not to mention its priced $100 higher. People bought the Wii because it was fresh, constantly out of stock driving up the hype and most importantly very affordable. With the next-gen PS and XBOX likely not having $500+ price tags...this won't get as much luck as the Wii IMO

deluxe comes with nintendoland (which is a pretty fun party game, much like wiiplay and wiisports combined).. generally a really good tech demo to what the wiiu games can potentially do..

also comes with a charging cradle for the wii gamepad, its like the nintendo 3ds cradle

those are the only 2 things that benefits most people getting the deluxe

the other stuff is the E Shop promotional plan where everytime you spend $50 or more on games you get $5 in credit back.. the promotion only goes for 2 years until 2014..

the 32 gig flash memory isnt really a factor.. because wether you have the regular edition, you will still invest in an external hard drive for games


the WiiU OS is laughably slow.. just opening up the miiverse or the web browser is a 5 to 10 second wait from the home menu

also the Wii interface is built into the new console and the transition isnt seemless, you have to load up the Wii interface which takes 30 secs to load...so if you going to play Wii games on this, make sure you really play for long

Virtual Console games have to be loaded up to the Wii menu, and buying any SNES or retro games has to be done through the old Wii Shop.. .. not the new E Shop..

i know it really sounds confusing.. tried to explain it as simple as i could.. in simple words, if you plan to play Wii games on the Wiiu, it will take a total of 1 minute or so to boot up the WiiU and then load up the Wii menu

I bought a Wii U Deluxe /w Mario/Luigi U around a month ago. It was the perfect purchasing storm for me: it was on sale, I had points to redeem, and I could also earn a bunch of points for further redemption. My wife wanted it for Wii Fit, so I got that with the system, as well. We are very happy with it!

The gamepad is fantastic. I can play games while the wife watches TV. She plays on the Wii Fit, daily. My wife says she gets a better workout vs the treadmill. It's also very engaging, so you're not counting the minutes, and end up working out a lot.

I just got Mario Kart 8. Nintendo has done it again. This is a very polished game, and most importantly, it is extremely fun! We're still trying to get all the stars for 50cc, which is no longer a walk in the park. There's actually some decent challenge on the easiest class. Everything about this game culminates to a big fucking grin on your face. It is awesome. We played it so much that we had Mario Kart dreams. Oh yeah, don't mess with Luigi. He'll fuck you up:

The Mario Kart franchise has always been about racing with characters from the Mario universe — until now. With two upcoming downloadable content packs, Mario Kart 8 players will be able to add The Legend of Zelda's Link and the villager and Isabelle from Animal Crossing, according to a post from Nintendo's official UK store.

The first pack of the two adds Link, cat-suit Peach and tanooki-suit Mario, as well as four vehicles and eight tracks. It will be available in November of this year.

Pack 2, available in May 2015, adds Animal Crossing's Villager, Isabelle from Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the skeletal Dry Bowser, four vehicles and eight tracks.

"Each Add On Content pack will contain two new cups, each with four courses, which, in total, increases the number of available courses by 50 percent," the site reads. "The Add On Content packs include classics like Wario's Gold Mine from Mario Kart Wii, as well as new courses, some taking place in the worlds of The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing. New vehicles will also arrive with each pack, including the Blue Falcon kart representing the F-Zero franchise in the first AOC pack."

Both packs are listed for £7.

Those who purchase both DLC packs will receive additional content as well: eight new colors each for Yoshi and Shy Guy. Those who pre-purchase those packs gain access to the new colors immediately.
