All,

I have macbook with os 10.58 . I am trying to upgrade Itunes but it will not allow me. Message saying I need to upgrade to 10.6.8 at a minimum.

A friend upgpraded to snow leopard a year or so ago. I dont seem to have that option available on the mac store/shop.

Would that be sufficient enough if I found a copy to buy of Snow Leop?

Please advise my best options.

Cheers

Yes you'd have to buy a copy of snow leopard. You should be able to upgrade to Mountain Lion after that through the app store.

where do they still sell Snow Leopard? Only mac store, or a local Bestbuy / fs / walmart

I believe you can get the cd at Apple Store (or the online apple store). I am 100% certain BB/FS/LD do not have them.

it also depends on if your mac can handle the os, meaning if it meets the minimum requirements. Be sure to check compatibility before buying.
