any fitness centres that have a heavy bag in the lower mainland? Or a drop in boxing gym is good too. I don't want to do any classes though, I just want to work on the bag alone.

Fitness world in Richmond on Gilbert has a heavy bag too. Not sure how much they charge for drop in.

They took out the heavy bags. They have batting cages now instead :badpokerface:

Off topic, but any tips for learning to work a heavy bag and what gloves to buy? I wouldn't mind trying it out at my gym, but I don't want to look like a complete moron.

16oz - good weight to protect hands, give delts some work and develop a little hand speed
hand wraps - learn to wrap them properly (everyone has their own little way)
learn to throw a jab, right cross and a left hook. those three punches alone make for quite a few combinations. basics go a long way!

minoru in richmond has one, but only go if you're only looking for a bag workout and not weights.
you can also go to razor in richmond at night
@matlock
maybe watch videos of boxers shadowboxing? and as derek said, learn the basics. Jab, cross, hooks, upper cuts, bodyshots etc. then try to do some footwork, work around the bag in circles and change direction from time to time!

Bag workouts rock. Do sets within skipping in between. Get your jabs and crosses down, like mentioned above.
Got a garage? Hang one there
