A Vancouver man was charged after the RCMP caught him exceeding the speed limit by over 100km/h near Lake Louise.
Jerry Wong was pulled over in his silver BMW by RCMP conducting regular speed patrols just east of Lake Louise in the midst of what RCMP described as heavy weekend traffic. He was clocked at speeds between 184 and 191 kilometres per hour in an area with a speed limit of 90 km per hour.
Wong was fined $2,300 and had his license suspended for 90 days.
“This is an extremely dangerous speed to be driving. I would ask him why his haste is more important than everyone else on the road,” said judge L.R. Grieve.
“This is borderline criminal what Mr. Wong did. This is disgraceful.”

I bet the cops drove the speed limit until they slowly caught up to him...

TBH, lake lousie to banff is pretty awesome, four lane highway thats new ish, nice views. Luckily he was in AB, or else he would never see his car again.

I think I averaged 180-190 going to and from Shuswap this year.
I gotta get a radar detector.

Being the his license is suspended for 90 days, is that in effect only in Alberta or nation wide assuming he has a BC DL.

thats all he got... at the minimum 9months or 1 year suspension.. gotta start laying down the law for people who speeds intentionally like that, they said its also during heavy traffic, so other lives are at risk..

You mean like everyone on the mainland. I almost never see anyone driving the posted speed limit.

There's a difference between going 10-20 over the limit and 100 over...

lol...he should be glad he didn't get caught in BC...probably would've his car seized and auctioned off if he were caught here
$2300 fine + 90 days suspension really doesn't seem like much...actually, i would call it a reasonable / light penalty.
On the other hand, getting your car seized and auctioned off for speeding is like getting your dick chopped off for slapping a random girl's butt

Define: Traffic
Was it a couple cars spaced out every 400-500m? Or was he constantly having to weave in and out?

The article, written by a news company, trying to get "ratings", trying to get people to read their newspaper... Ya, I trust it.
