I always shake my head at people who don't wear seatbelts, I mean come on, it takes less than 5 seconds of your time.

A more suitable question to ask would be: why do you NOT wear your seatbelt?

I picked up a horrible habit moving cars around the lot at work, never put on the belt on automatically now  anyone that moves/has moved cars for work know what I mean?

I've worked as a lot boy and don't put on a seat belt when driving around for a few seconds in the lot after getting a lot of comments from other lot boys lol (bad choice), but I do when I go out of the lot with the car. Haven't changed my habit of buckling up right after I start the car though after I stopped working there. Ever since I started to learn how to drive I would put on my seat belt right after I start the car, before I put it in gear. Did it so often that now it actually feels weird driving without the seat belt on, kind of a naked feeling lol. Good habit to have..

I don't usually comment on grammar but reading this annoyed me to death. I do agree with your last statement though

I don't forget to put my seatbelt on in my own car, but it is a really bad habit you pick up working in automotive. Bringing cars into shop I don't bother since it's a 200m drive, road tests, it's like second nature for me to put it on.

I worked on lot for 3 years. Every time I get into a car that is going off lot, I always put on my seat belt.
Moving a car from the back to the front, wouldn't bother. I always put my seatbelt on when I get into my own car.

I work in an auto shop too and when moving cars around for a short time I don't but when I leave the lot its on right away. Its funny though, one time I was in a 2012 crv and I reached to put on my seatbelt to find something already in it. The guy put in a dummy clip so the light wouldn't go off. /faccepalm

I always wear my seatbelt and make my passengers wear one too,not worth the risk in not wearing one,I would be totally fucked up today if I did not wear a seat belt during the few accidents I've been in.I even have special seatbelt harness's for my dogs that seatbelts them in the car.

Besides who the fuck wants to pay for a seatbelt ticket.

Yeah it's a habbit at this point.

Visiting Moscow a few years back I got in my uncles car and first thing I did was put on the seatbelt. This guy... LOL.... gives me a funny look and actually tries to debate me on why you should not wear a seatbelt. He tells me seatbelts cause more injury in a car accident rather than saving your life. Wtf? These guys prefer to fly through the windsheild into a brick wall?

I remember there was a thread on this a while back too. Like I said, it just didnt feel right when you get into a car, and you don't put the seat belt on. Feels so insecure!

same as other mechanics and lot guys... If it's moving the car within the lot, I don't wear it, but if I ever have to leave the dealership it is worn for sure.

I started out wearing it even within the lot and the other guys just looked at me funny.

my dad does this annoying thing where he takes off the seatbelt after the last turn before getting home. there's still 3-4 blocks to go but he takes it off...

anyone have older folks that grew up in a country with no requirements for seatbelts do this?

My dad started this retarded habit of only putting on his seatbelt after pulling out of the driveway.

Pulls out of the driveway, drives down the alley about 30 feet, then puts on his seatbelt. I would almost, ALMOST understand this as some sort of bad habit he picked up since he was younger. However, he only started doing it about 4 years ago. For what bizarre reason I have no clue. It makes zero sense, and seems stupid because his hands are busy putting on a seatbelt when they should be available should he need to make an emergency maneuver (eg: avoid somebody backing out of their driveway).

dont understand the logic with some people. they never wear seatbelts cuz its uncomfortable (not at all). I have some friends who quickly put on their seatbelts when a cop car is near, but to take it off again when the cop is gone. Is a little discomfort not worth your life?
