Phnom Pehn's famous deep fried chicken wings

Everyone raves about them. I love it. Been going for years and all my friends always order the fried chicken dish.
Their chicken tastes consistently good all the time. Almost too consistent, lol.
So my question is, does their fried chicken wings have MSG (and in their other dishes)?
I suspect so, but I wanted to hear your thoughts, theories on this..
:D

too much MSG bro.
:megusta:
on a side note, me and my gf noticed that if you got the large, they just load it up with wing tips LOL. it might be because the time we got a small we got lucky and there weren't any tips.
also the butter beef is kind of overrated and overpriced

I always go for
Small Chicken Wings
Large Calamari
Beef and egg on rice
Lemon soda
So fucking good.
Man the sauce makes it so much better.

From what I've been able to pick out, the sauce consists of at least lime juice and white pepper.
I kinda wish I knew south east asian cuisine better so I can reverse engineer their food :okay:

One would think that it is coated with salt.
But then again, that what normally happens when doing basic seasoning.

wait a few mins you're bound to find parking infront of the store if not on the same street. Turnover is pretty high for their tables.

Given the hype, I waited for an hour to try their food.
Wings 7/10 - the oil and sauce was too strong. It's more oily than "wind-sand" wings at Arberdeen but not as good.
Pho 6/10 - probably not my taste. It has a totally different broth.
The prices are quite expensive. I'd rather eat at a less busy pho place and skip the wait.

Food there must contains drugs or something in them :troll:. So good though :fullofwin:! But it's pricey for their chicken wings. I usually order wings and noodle soup.

10-21-2012, 08:02 AM
My gf and I have actually found the quality of the wings to have gone down in the past year or so. Now with that said though, they basically went from a 10/10 to a 8/10 for me which is still better than most of the other wings so it's still sick in my books.
For those who don't want to go through the horrible wait times might want to consider Indochine on E Broadway. It's the son of Phnom Pehn who opened it and you can get the top 3 items there. Wings, butter beef, and Luc lac beef. The wings are for the most part the same but no tips, butter beef I haven't trie but looks the same, and the beef comes with fired rice and uses beef cubes instead of slices. So pretty close but not EXACT. It will definitely taste familiar for sure.

Phnom penh's wings definitely went downhill, I was there on sat.
Could use more garlic and they used to have a sweet aftertaste that I don't get anymore
The lemongrass chicken isn't as good either, not sure if it's just not as good on the weekends cause of how busy it is.
Butter beef still orgasmic.
